I will add another one feeding birds and squirrel's around the house. Really though, anything that wants to eat.
My family does that! The squirrels love to steal the bird's food! lol

I don’t have hobbies in the traditional sense and no longer use the term in respect to myself. There were things I enjoyed and must tries too. But lifestyle design changed that. Intentional living was no longer a goal or philosophy but a way of being.

There’s not a designated time or category for creative pursuits. They’re melded in the rest. I don’t view them differently from everyday activities or require a specific headspace or setting to perform.

When you’re ‘trying’ to be creative that in itself is a task and you expend more energy. But you execute better in a flow state. Because the action is effortless and you’re in the zone.

Now I make dinner at 7AM and wish I’d made the shift years ago. I feel a similar vibe while doing other things including chores. Because I changed my mindset.

I considered the things I liked and wanted to experience in relation to God and looked for overlaps. Anything He called me to perform or equipped me to do was given primacy. Because its anointed. And I held myself to those parameters.

The bulk of my activities are spiritual gifts in action, talents, or related to my purpose. My performance and output are greater because I’m operating in areas that are God stamped. That’s why I can monetize my life. I’m reenforcing the things I excel in.

What are you good at? What topics hold your attention that you understand with ease? What can you read and execute with minimal effort? Start there. :)

Running - for now so I joined the YMCA and am Aqua jogging until my foot heals. I've also been volunteering at races in place of that and making connections.

Strength training - it's a new old hobby. I lifted weights a lot when I was in college but fell out of it over the years partially because of finances and sometimes lack of motivation after running at home. I've gone through spells of keeping up some of it though like planks the last few years.

Bible study (just joined a new church so in time hopefully I can help lead a study. My quiet times have been lacking but in time I think the Lord will open up my gift again).

Gardening - that is a hobby that has grown since 2009. Starting off with a landlord who helped me on his 5 acres of land. My current situation in 2020 with a shovel I began taking out my first garden and it has expanded. I love to grow flowers to give to others.

Travel - I love to learn about other cultures. Financially I have not been able to travel on my route outside of what work in the past has provided. I've integrated it with when I was training for half marathons traveling away for long distance runs.

Coffee and breakfast - I'm a good connoisseur of coffee shops and cafes.

Vegan cooking - when I do the Daniel fast during the lent season each year it helps to sharpen my skills. Otherwise I'm not much for cooking.

Tea parties

Psychology Briggs

Organizing get togethers -
whether it be in the workplace or with different friends and dressing up in different costumes with some kind of theme. I love connecting people and relationships spinning off from that. This also includes hosting dinner at my house.

Being a wellness advocate - it's a volunteer position that I've had since 2016 through my wellness insurance plan at work. I keep the conversations going about wellness and encourage individuals in wherever they're at in that journey. It can also include mental wellness. I can see this as something that I want to do in my future for retirement. I love seeing others live whole healthy lives and being the best version of themselves that allows others to also lead healthier lives.

Video editing - this has been on pause or a couple decades. But I love putting together videos that I have filmed and music in the background. It's always been my aspiration to make short films.

Photography

Reading
- I check out high volumes of books from the library. They might be on vegan cookbooks, etiquette, running, fashion, history.

Wild Birds - I have no indoor pets and love putting out nectar for the hummingbirds, and food for finches in the summertime. Winter time when there is snow I put out black sunflower seeds for the Cardinals. I had a lot of bluebirds and blue jays this year. I will hopefully be making a bluebird feeder station next year. This is a hobby that my parents picked up off of me.

International relationships - I am working to make relationships with people that are different from myself and learn about their cultures and food. That includes the ones here at the United States that might be different from myself.

Holistic living - in 2009 I had a naturopathic doctor that introduced me to ways of more natural living. So I use essential oils, Himalayan rocks, mostly natural shampoos conditioners soap and body products. I try to stay away from processed foods and pretty much hardly ever go to a fast food place. Different things like electromagnetic fields, I've done things to eliminate that in my sleep space with a battery operated alarm clock and I don't use an electric heated blanket.

International and independent films - that one time I was going to different universities watching films but I don't as much now.

Surfing - I picked up bodyboarding when I was living in Japan for 4 years. And transitioned to Lake surfing. I have two longboards but have not taken them in the water since 2012. I won one of them at a surf luah. As I work on my strength training I eventually will get back into surfing.

Dressing up - I have quite a few dresses and this has been my thing since I was 16 years old. I wanted to be a fashion merchandiser when I was in high school but pretty much went a different direction by joining the Army. Might half sister went into fashion merchandising in my place.

Not a hobby, but does yard work count? It can be quite a lot of work at times. Especially since my yard is bigger than most of my neighbors.

Thanks Bella! I love learning about theology, prayer, and the early Church. It's my passion.

That’s great. What can you do with the things you’re learning? Don’t be an encyclopedia. Apply it! You can teach, mentor or serve. Whether its at church, through an organization or something you build online. By doing so you’re passing along the things you learn, planting seeds and building new connections. You’d rectify the friend issue if you did.

I’m doing the same but its monetized. I package my knowledge and sell it. If I do something and do it well why not get paid? That’s not for everyone but its a cushion against uncertainty and I like building things. Flipping my skills into profits is a game and personal challenge and I love it. I share that to illustrate a different approach. I love the things I do and have a head for business. It isn’t one or the other. I look for common denominators in them all.

In light of what you said you have a lot of options. I mentioned a few earlier but what happens if you add another to the mix? Add writing and you have a blog, book, and courses. Add communication and you have a podcast or video channel. Add public speaking and you're doing events and conferences. That’s how you build it out and expand your reach.

Now you’re doing what you love, getting paid and meeting new people. Problem solved (girl and friends). You can go about life the usual way or get creative. I recommend the latter. The majority are in the first group. You don’t have to follow suit. The choice is yours.

Something I've got into in recent years is researching my family history. I've gone back to my fourth great-grandparents so far and for some of it will be possible to go back further, but these are people born around 1800, which is when records start to get rather spotty. It does sometimes take a bit of searching to find the right evidence and corroborating it, but it can be very satisfying when that happens.

I do wonder sometimes what their stories are. All I have are a list of names and dates and at times a little bit of information as to what they got up to. These were real people who lived real lives but there's no way of knowing what those lives were all about.

Sewing and video-making are my creative outlets of choice. I think I've made my favorite video I've made so far as well as my favorite dress I've made so far this year, so it's fun to see it develop into something better and better with time!
