David wrote "Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered." (Psalm 32:1) under the Old Covenant. The writer to the Hebrews wrote that the blood of sheep and rams could never take away sin. That is why Jesus' sacrifice was needed.
John the Baptist testified to this when he declared Jesus to be "the Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world."

When we receive Jesus Christ does He cover our sins or cleanse them?

Cleanse.

(John 1:29) "The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world."

(Heb 10:4) "For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins."

The point in Hebrews 10 is that the blood of bulls and goats under the OT could merely cover sin, but the blood of Christ is able to absolutely remove, take away, and cleanse sin. So, essentially, when people say they are covered by the blood of Christ they are lowering his sacrifice to the level of animal sacrifice, which is blasphemous.

No, absolutely not - because in Romans 4 Paul quotes Psalm 32, "Blessed is the man whose sin is covered."

The whole point meaning of atonement is covering, isn't it? Obviously Christ's blood completely removes our sin, but it also hides it from God's sight, so to speak...

In the quotation, half refers to the NT case and half to the OT case, as it also did when David first wrote it. "Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven," that is, under the NT, "and they whose sins are covered," that is, under the OT.

No. Under the Old Testament is was, but only because that's all those animals could do.

There is NO passage that says Christ's blood covers anything. On the otherhand there are many many many passages that speak of his blood as cleansing and removing sin.

Forgive me jumping down throats here because I realize that this person is merely speaking what they have been taught! So understand I am not in any way upset with the peson who wrote this, merely the teachers of such things!

This is heresey of epic proportions! No where does the Bible say this nor does it advocate this type of teaching.

God sent Christ to forgive us of our past sins, but also to provide us with a new and living way (not a figurative way) to live out actual and true holiness in our lives. Not merely because we are counted as such, but through the Spirit living in us we can live righteously! We can go through our normal everyday routines and challenges, our trials... whatever and still live as holy men!

God does'nt need anything to cover up our sin, his sons blood cleanses us of our sin! In otherwords; he excuses us from having to give in to the temptation to sin, he provides us a way out.

1st Thessalonians 4:7 FOR GOD DID NOT CALL US TO BE IMPURE, BUT TO LIVE A HOLY LIFE. THEREFORE HE WHO REJECTS THIS INSTRUCTION DOES NOT REJECT MAN BUT GOD WHO GIVES YOU HIS HOLY SPIRIT.

You can reject me all day, but you can't refute Gods word!
