di·plo·ma·cy
noun
  1. the profession, activity, or skill of managing international relations, typically by a country's representatives abroad:

The countries we deal with internationally might not understand (or take kindly to) insults and threats. While they are not as large or as powerful as the U.S., they are independent nations that deserve to be treated with respect. We do not gain the cooperation or friendship of the world through insults, threats, and retaliation.

Getting the job done decisively, quickly and efficiently is what's needed in a leader.

I don't understand why Colombia didn't want their citizens. I thought they send their best? Why wouldn't they want their doctors, lawyers, and teachers back? Weird.

Colombian President Gustavo Petro offered his presidential plane to repatriate migrants coming back from the U.S. on Sunday in response to stern warnings made by President Donald Trump.

The move came after Trump hit the South American country with retaliatory measures in response to Petro's refusal to accept deportation flights. A former member of the M-19, which was a Marxist guerrilla terrorist group that killed hundreds, Petro caved in to Trump's demands with remarkable speed. Trump told Fox News Petro did a total about-face after his tariff threat.
In a statement translated from Spanish, the Colombian government said the plane will help facilitate a "dignified return."
"The Government of Colombia, under the direction of President Gustavo Petro, has arranged the presidential plane to facilitate the dignified return of the compatriots who were going to arrive in the country today in the morning, coming from deportation flights," the translated statement read.

"This measure responds to the Government's commitment to guarantee decent conditions."

This weekend, American officials sent two flights of Colombian illegal aliens as part of Trump's ongoing deportation program. Petro rejected the flights, writing that the U.S. cannot "treat Colombian migrants as criminals."

"I deny the entry of American planes carrying Colombian migrants into our territory," Petro said. "The United States must establish a protocol for the dignified treatment of migrants before we receive them."

In response, Trump unleashed a slew of punishments, including ordering a 25% tariff on all goods coming into the U.S. from Colombia.

The tariff would rise to 50% after one week, Trump said. The president also ordered a travel ban and visa revocations for all Colombian government officials, plus "allies and supporters."

"These measures are just the beginning. We will not allow the Colombian Government to violate its legal obligations with regard to the acceptance and return of the Criminals they forced into the United States!" Trump warned.
I am sure that once they realized the costs of the tariffs on bananas, coffee, and the rest they decided to come up with some excuse to try and save face.

They send the worst in many cases, and when they get to the US 10 illegals will live in a RV or cheap studio apt, sending 60% of their monies back to Columbia

In many instances the monies sent are a large part of their countries economy, the government in Columbia would gladly pay one way air fare for is citizens to enter the US if they could

"The Government of Colombia has agreed to all of President Trump's terms including the unrestricted acceptance of illegal aliens from Colombia returned from the United Sates"

Too bad he wasn't diplomatic enough to let it drag out for weeks.

I'm concerned about all the church burnings that will take place once Trump is out of office.

The penalties Trump is proposing seem to indicate he believes in diplomacy by bullying, intimidation, and tantrums.
While I am not surprised, I am very embarrassed for my country.
You cant argue with the results.

Just the word of president Trump mentioning tariffs on goods, had the Columbian president in a head lock tapping out in the first 10 seconds of the fight, "Quick Results"!

We need more Trump diplomacy, it works!

The problem is that it typifies how he handles every situation. He has no respect for respected religious leaders who disagree with him--Bishop Budde, Pope Francis. Politicians and world leaders. And you, and me, and all citizens. You are insignificant--to fall in line or be verbally abused and harmed.
He brings his followers to a lather of hate about Dr. Fauci, who saved millions of lives over four decades--and then cancels the Secret Service protection He needs.
It works? At what cost?

Your claims are false, it's a fact that Faucci was using federal monies to promote gain of function in Wuhan China

It's my opinion that Faucci harmed millions of lives, when he used federal monies for gain of function in the Wuhan China lab

Glad to see Faucci's secret service detail was removed, there's no provision for it

So what you are saying is that it is better to go back to the failed "let's make the world like us" foreign policies of Obama and Boden? I am not sure if you are aware of this, but Trump won election because the country wasn't buying that garbage anymore. The days of presidents bowing before Saudi princes and going on global apology tours are over. The perhaps you disagree, but the majority of the American people are tired of being treated like a door mat just to make us more liked. We are done apologizing and feeling guilty for our wealth and military dominance. Now we finally have a president who is willing to use whatever leverage at his disposal to put the interests of American citizens first and I hope we never go back. So lets take back the Panama Canal and invite Greenland to become our newest territory (perhapse state) and lets send these illegial criminals and convicts back to where they came from.

No, Oompa Loompa. I am saying he will use that same leverage (i.e. threats and sanctions) against anyone who crosses him. For example, California is a blue state with catastrophic fires that they were not responsible for--and he talks about disbanding FEMA and getting apologies and concessions from California because only friendly states deserve federal funds

Repeating alternative facts that have been promoted by the president and discredited everywhere else just proves my point.
Dr. Fauci wrote a book that was truthful but very respectful of Pres. Trump. I was in awe. I thought he was more heroic than ever; most renowned mrdical experts enduring the obstacles he had to face to let sanity and science dictate a lifesaving pandemic policy would have struggled to be civil. The president's comments encouraged irresponsible, dangerous people who threatened his life--and now wants to remove his security?

Can you provide any support to justify the emotional hyperbole?
