Suddenly occurred to me that the Virginia state flag might violate forum rules.

Beware bare nipple.
Lol, America, the country of extremism. I hate when we mess up things from history. See, I get to Google why Virginia has a woman with her tit hanging out on their flag. How do you learn if they want to hide it?

Even ChatGBT laughed:

Haha, yeah, Virginia’s state flag does raise some eyebrows if you're seeing it for the first time.

Here’s the deal: the woman on the flag is Virtus, the Roman goddess of virtue. She’s the personification of things like courage and moral excellence. The flag shows her standing over a defeated tyrant, which is meant to represent Virginia’s motto:

"Sic Semper Tyrannis"Thus Always to Tyrants.
Basically, it’s a big "down with tyranny" energy.

Now, about the exposed breast — that's actually not uncommon in classical art. It symbolizes freedom, virtue, and defiance. In this context, it’s less about being provocative and more about echoing ancient Roman ideals of liberty and heroism. She’s got a spear and a sheathed sword, too — she means business.

So yeah, the tit is out for freedom.

A school district saying no to illustrations of nudity, is something only liberalism would find objectionable.
Only conservatism would make a huge deal about a barely noticeable exposed breast. Now the district can be sure all the students are looking up pictures of the flag to see what the fuss is only to be underwhelmed.

What huge deal? If they don't want to supply their students with depictions of nudity, that would have include that image. Or should the policy be no depictions of nudity except for that one image? Frankly I'm surprised Virginia would have that on their flag after the 1916 Standing Liberty quarter dollar controversy. A very naughty coin!

Note; I'm not taking this issue particularly seriously.

The huge deal is that they have removed a whole section about Virginia, not just the flag.

I think they could exercise a little judgement in such a way that would permit state flags that fly publicly and officially elsewhere.

otoh perhaps this flag really is too scandalous for the new conservatives.

Nah, just for the kids. Compared to all the sexuality and obscenity liberals want kids exposed to in school, I'd rather side with the conservatives taking it in the opposite direction.

That flag is too scandalous for the kids in your opinion? Really?

It must be dreadful in Virginia all those conservative parents having to blindfold their kids if there's any chance of witnessing the state flag.

No, in the opinion of that school district. I'd rather have a school district go too far towards eliminating sexuality and obscenity in schools, than how other school districts have gone way too far in promoting and propagating it.

Are those the only two options?
