I attend an EFCA (Evangelical Free Church) and noticed that it was affiliated with, or partnered with an organization called "World Relief"

I didn't think much of it, until I looked into them a little deeper. Aside from the refugee work they do (which is perfectly fine--helping war refugees is a laudable endeavor), they also work with illegal immigrants, help transport "asylum seekers" (aka, illegal immigrants) across the border, set them up in homes, and are rumored to work with coyotes and human traffickers.

And they were getting tens of millions of dollars in USAID money. When Trump stopped the payments, World Relief started complaining on social media. Even Beth Stuckey took notice and exposed their operation on her podcast.

This is the latest scandal involving the EFCA, and it breaks my heart. For those of you unfamiliar with the EFCA, their entire history is based off separation from government authority, patronage, etc. --so they can worship according to scripture and their conscience. By partnering with NGOs, they are allowing government money and influence into the congregation.

Does anyone know more about this?

Sorry, but what do NGO and USAID stand for? I am in the UK; perhaps they are American acronyms.

Non-Governmental-Organization. Typically a private organization that may, or may not, get funding from the government. George Soros' Open Society Foundation is a good example.

USAID was a program started in the 1960s as a Cold War initiative. The idea was to provide monetary and material aid to countries in order to keep them out of the Soviet sphere of influence. Unfortunately, the program became hopelessly corrupt, and now amounts to a cash grab by all kinds of bad actors.

Thank you very much for the explanation.

One of the main problems with illegal immigration is how ones cross but are enslaved or cross and are violent.

So, if they are checked out by the Evangelical Free people, and are family people . . . set up in homes, even . . . that can be helping, I would say.

If you want to get technical about being legal . . . you need to come to a full stop at a stop sign. And arguing and complaining in your home is abusive to children . . . a bad example so they do not grow up with a good example of how to love. And if Americans are living on land which was taken by killing Mexicans and Indian families . . . why can't "illegals" move onto this land???? They aren't killing families in order to find a safer and nicer place to live with their families.
are rumored to work with coyotes and human traffickers.
This obviously can be an issue. But do they have a rapport with the ones they work with? So they can make sure the people get across safely? There are corrupt travel agents and ones who give you what you pay for. So, if they are getting what is better for their people, I am open about this. If you want to move someone over the border, do you find a coyote who knows how to do it, or do you hire a choir boy? The government uses criminal elements to accomplish certain purposes, using someone with the connections.

What's the actual scandal? Or is this just hearsay?

The EFCA does work with this group--my church has had events in support of it
I understan that, but im asking what the actual scandal is. Collaborating with an NGO is a pretty normal thing for people all across the country.

Well there are few aspects of this which are concerning

1. The NGO "World Relief" is actively working to bring migrants into the country illegally --or at least that is what is suspected.
2. The EFCA Church has a tradition of total separation from government (that is why it was established). By partnering with a NGO which is receiving federal money, they are going against their own principles.

It sounds like there isn't clear evidence for this as of yet, based on your response here. Let's not falsely accuse our brothers and sisters without knowledge of the circumstances.

That's an interesting practice or belief. Thanks for sharing. Just curious though, is this in their statement of faith? Or where did you hear this?

I can't comment on the 2nd point, but on the 1st point. This seems like political posturing, and feels like drinking MAGA kool-aid, something the Church needs to resist and reject thoroughly, because it is thoroughly un-Christian.

nothing in Christian doctrine say we need to break laws in order to cater to others, especially those who aren't even Christian

the same "Christians" who argued that we need to bend the knee to civil authority and shutter the churches in 2020, are now saying we need to violate immigration law out of pious duty

this schizophrenic thinking doesn't;t help the church, and instead makes us look like inconsistent hypocrites
