Churches in Sydney, Australia

Hi everyone,

I am seeking a new church within the Sydney region that is either Anglican or Presbyterian. I am not comfortable within the typical 'high church' structure of some Anglican churches, so any recommendations beyond these would be greatly appreciated.

Other considerations include:

1. A church with a strong cohort of professionals.
2. A church with a strong number of young adults.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Sierra, I'm with a church that operates the instructions given in 1 Cor. 11 & 14 + Eph. 4 detailing the orderly operation of gifts and ministries.
That's important as far as Jesus is concerned, some groups have replaced it with ritual or emotionalism and many have never even been to a church like this!

I'm near London but I have visited the Sydney church.
I know there is a good young people's contingent and a cross-section of "white-collar" office workers and "blue collar" trades people. Have a chat to Andrew one of the pastors, he knows me.

I left the Anglican church in 1986, I only joined because my parents wanted me to go and it was what I knew. After I met people living by the Holy Spirit and running meetings God's way (1 Corinthians 14) I realised I was just following man's traditions and not getting anywhere spiritually.

I appreciate your perspective with regard to Anglicanism holding fast to traditions, and a consequential barrier this can provide to true worship.

I would still really appreciate any feedback on St Matthias Anglican Church in Centennial Park and Church by the Bridge, Kirribilli. If anyone has any feedback and/or recommendations of good churches, it would be most welcome.

I not Anglican and not much familiar with these churches in Sydney but I do know that the Anglican churches that are close to the universities have a lot of young people.
