Personally I have bigger battles to fight! (Though we have been graced, through exodus, to a non-nightmarish Triduum.) I am so joyful-- see all of my silly posts!

So have I, so far. I also travelled to another parish for Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, although my parish is pretty much abuse-free (except for thinking women are male during the mandatum).

But there's still the Vigil, which, being an RCIA sponsor, I have to attend at my parish.

Which means there's not going to be any bees at the Vigil. I miss the bees.

My son would go into spasm-- he is so frightened of all that buzzes!

Not real bees! :)

They're in the Exsultet, as symbols of Mary. Just as the Paschal candle is made by the work of bees, and worker bees are virgin females, so too does the Light which the candle symbolises come from a virgin female.

But you won't hear about them. They've been ICELised.

They were also on- was it Pope Urban (of some number), who was pope during Galileo's lifetime who had three (?) bees added to his coat of arms.

I didn't know about the bees-- I'm such a doofus! Though I am a doofus who received the Eucharist from a priest wearing an amice!! (God is in the details!)

The bees are still in the Latin text, but ICEL left them out.

Poor bees. :(

Here's the Exsultet, along with the official English text and an actual translation.

http://www.quodlibeta.com/pdf/Exsultet.pdf

Here's the bit on bees:

Therefore, in the grace of this night,
receive, O holy Father, the evening sacrifice of this praise,
which the holy Church returns to You by the hands of Her
ministers in this solemn offering of a candle,
made from the work of bees.

Indeed, now we know the proclamation of this pillar,
how its shining fire kindles the honor of God.
Which fire, though it be divided in parts,
still knows no loss in the exchange of its light.
For it is fed by the melting wax
which the mother bee brought forth to become
the substance of this precious lamp.

Which, in ICELese, becomes:

Therefore, heavenly Father, in the joy of this night,
receive our evening sacrifice of praise,
your Church's solemn offering.

Accept this Easter candle,
a flame divided but undimmed,
a pillar of fire that glows to the honor of God.

Hey....dark chocolate is real chocolate. Milk chocolate is a watered-down, sissy substitute.;) We chocolate connoisseurs prefer dark to milk because it is the essense of what chocolate really is with no dilution. With high-end chocolate, there is a surprising amount of variety and flavour differences.:yum:
lol And I thought I was the Queen of all chololate eaters! But, guess what..I love both kinds of chocolate. Haven't had a whole lot of the high end stuff. I'll have to look into that!!:yum:

I think giving chocolate Crosses is a great idea as it is respectful of our Faith and more accurately(and deliciously) represents our Faith.
I mean I Love Chocolate-but I also respect my Faith and I'd Love to have them near me so I could show people how I care.

Imagine the look on some non-Christians' faces when they open your Easter Gift and see a Crucifix...that's chocolate.

Hey it might be the only way to get a little Religion into them. ;)
