Some people find the monastic life with opportunities for isolation and silence to be quite beneficial. It'd be great to not be bombarded with all kinds of non-Orthodox thought for a really extended period of time. Sometimes all this internet surfing, GT struggles and trying to defend our Faith, which we sometimes understand so poorly, can be really dangerous to our pilgrimage. Sometimes I envy monks that do that.

If you're married with kids, it's out of the question, of course.

Hmmm, sounds rather 'pagan' in some parts.

It is true that there was such a thing as 'Celtic Christianity' on these isles of Brittania for there is evidence of Christianity before the Roman Occupation, however, so many people have this romanticised view of these 'down to earth christians', which gives an image of a sort of Wiccan-Christian hybrid.
People think that Wicca is the true religion of Britian (which it is absolutly not, it was invented by Gerald Gardner in the 1950's by mixing together much folklore).

True Celtic Christianity is exactly what I go to every liturgy. It is the Orthodox Christian worship on these Holy Isles. We have our Saints, Alban, Patrick, David, Cuthbert, Bede, Aiden to name but a few and I think most modern British Orthodox realise that the Church in Britain today is not something which has suddenly come from 'the east' in the past 50 years but rather, something which is being continued from many millenia.

Sorry to go off topic.
