When someone votes for another because their favorite celebrity endorses one that tells me a lot about the one who would vote for that reason. So why should someone who does anything....standing in front of a camera and does an acting thing or a singing thing have any bearing on me taking their political leanings as my own?

I had a friend. He had been a part of Hitler's youth and sent to the front line when he was 12 years old. They threw him in a Polish Concentration camp where a guard knocked out one of his eyes with the butt of a rifle. Today they would say he had PTSD, but back then they said he was paranoid. He though people were out to get him. I have heard that it was not optional, the youth had to be a part of that organization. He escaped when he cut down a tree and pole vaulted over the barb wire fence. Don't know how he got a visa to come to America.

We all need God to rescue, save, heal and deliver us.
The amazing thing is he causes all things to work together for good.
Dang, that is sad. I will pray for your friend that was forced to the front line as a kid and gone through immense suffering. God does work in mysterious ways, and he will rescue us, no matter what. One person on the forum has a son who got an injury from surfing making him paralyzed, but that accident helped him grow closer to God, as when he was surfing, he put God second place in his life.

Do Celebrity endorsements help a candidate? Taylor Swift does not want to endorse anyone because she does not want her fans to riot at a concert. Oprah does not seem to have a problem to endorse people.

If someone's vote rests on a celebrity endorsement, then they are not fulfilling their function as a citizen. They are not fulfilling their duty as an intelligent agent and should go chop wood while the rest of us do adult things.

Amen, brother. Preach it to the world. :)

No one needs to rely on famous people to make decisions for them. Then, we become mindless robots.

Don't get me started. ;)
Ahh, we met in my post about voting for 3rd parties, so I like you already. We need more folks with sensibilities such as you. God bless you. Now, if only I can get @Yttrium converted to Christ, then we can be the three Christian musketeers/crusaders for spreading the news about why being moderate is the best for our country. :) For now, it is us two.

Voting 3rd party:

Give it some time. I wear thin on most folks, which is surprising to me because I think I'm great,

I'm sure this is not @Yttrium first day in the world, much less a first encounter with Christians. But I will promote a moderate position just so long as everyone gets along and I don't have to do too much. I like to moderate in every way.

We all can wear thin on others, but it takes patience and kindness to get others involved in our faith, and in our politics. It is good idea to promote moderate positions, but sometimes, no one wants to hear us moderates, and we can get cast aside. Yttrium is a cool guy, we both like anime such as Azumanga Daioh and Ghost in the Shell. :)

Anyways, I hope you have a blessed night, I'll be back here tomorrow, as it is late here.

I would not argue with you about that. But it is not our place to judge people. Most people believe that God can use everything to accomplish His plan and purpose. WE are told that all things work together for good for those who love God and are called according to His purpose.

funny how that only applies to trump, but democrats that do even less stuff then him get attacked, not necarily by you, but this whole, "We can't judge him." really belies how little the right cares about the things they rail against. Trump is really the epitamy of the various things the right has been against for 30+ years, but as soon as it's trump, bragging about molesting woman, being crude, lying through his teeth and everything else no longer matters.

We got five churches and around 300 people to go to the abortion clinic and we went all the way around the block holding hands. WE prayed for God to shut down that clinic and stop the abortions. The clinic did not shut down and God told me it was because HE gives people a choice. Of course there is a right and a wrong choice. Life is ALWAYS the right choice. So I consider myself pro life. I know for sure there are a lot of babies (children) in Heaven that will never be reunited with their parents. Even though they want that more than anything. It is difficult to understand because they tell us that Heaven is a wonderful place.

If I buy stock I invest in the CEO, not the company. If I support a candidate like I did the mayor of my city. I look at the man and not the party. Of course it upsets my republican friends to see a democratic sign but I am not looking at the party, I am looking at the man.

Thank you for the kind words. Also, I love Amazing Grace and the several versions of that song. :)

Chris Tomlin did a great cover of the song in 2006. Willie Nelson is a good artist also, combining multiple genres such as country, blues and gospel. It is a crying shame that the oldies station in my city underplays Willie Nelson's stuff. One of the oldies stations (classic rock) plays 1980s-1990s, while the other one plays 1960s-1970s. Ahh, in 20 years, that means the 2010s will be oldies. I am dreading that day.

I would like to hear John Legend played on the oldies station in 2040 though, same with Rascal Flatts, Phoenix, The Fray and some indie bands.

I thought there was a ton of stations on the internet now.
That is true, I do like those stations, but when riding in the car with folks, it is easier to turn on the radio then try to connect the phone. :)

I remember back when you could buy a car so stiped down that it did not even have a radio. You could add a generic one pretty cheap though. I have to have a radio in the car because the sound of the tires will drive me crazy. Like the Eagles song.

Wow, you are old then. Cars without a radio (or without A/C) sounds terrible.

I like the Eagles' songs, such as Already Gone and Take It Easy.

Oh wait, the lyrics of Take It Easy. No idea what the lyrics are referring to though, unless it is about thinking too much, or loud car tires:

Take it easy, take it easy
Don't let the sound of your own wheels drive you crazy
Lighten up while you still can
Don't even try to understand
Just find a place to make your stand and take it easy

No radio, no A/C, no power steering, no power brakes, no automatic transmission, no power windows. My first car was a 58' chevy that was like driving a boat. Back before they figures out how to airstream a car. The one thing I would not want to give up is power steering. To make it worse they were one wheel drive which made it very difficult in the winter. It was a big deal to go to two wheel drive. What they called positraction.

Positraction, or positive-traction rear end, is a General Motors brand name for a limited-slip differential (LSD). It helps distribute power to the rear wheels and helps them spin at the same speed.

When one of the wheels slips or slides, a positraction differential redirects more power to the wheel with a solid grip on the surface. It allows you to gain more traction control over the car and significantly improve its grip on the road.

I do not know how significant it was but something is better than nothing.

Dang, life must have been tough back then, though cars looked better. :) Nowadays, cars look so boring, and they have since the SUV took off again in the 2010s. Cars were rear-wheel drive back then, nowadays, they are FWD or AWD. Though, the RWD cars are perfect for drifting around. I do not drive, cos I would do dumb stuff in abandoned areas.

One of my regrets: Driving past Winslow, Arizona a few years ago without stopping to get my picture taken standing on a corner.
