Can we make our Eastern Brethren feel more at home?

The intent is to have a single faith icon for all Catholics; one that is friendly to both Roman and Eastern Catholics and all other Catholics. The current icon under consideration is the Patriarchal Cross

Yes, that's the idea.

 Yes, a common Icon!

Agreed - it's a beautiful image .

BUT it would have to be re-worked as that has been done in stained glass . I have a feeling though, that once re-worked and shrunk down to the size , the keys would just be seen as wee squiggles.

I'm still for the Patriarchal Cross with no attachments/additions. It will be so small that to stand out and be obvious to people that it is the Catholic Faith Icon it needs to be as simple as possible - we just need to be very very careful with the spacing for the horizontal bars.

Oh ok. That's what I get for blowing through the thread at 100 mph!

Meh, I don't see the point. I would prefer something that sets the two apart as rites rather than some unity symbol. I can appreciate the two want one symbol I guess, but for me if I end up doing this EC thing (which I frequently am starting to realize most likely isn't tenable for me), I don't want to be confused with Latins. I just think and believe so utterly different than them. I respect and like them a great deal, but I bleed Eastern. I actually got excited about this thread thinking people wanted a Latin symbol for Romans and an EC symbol for the Eastern folks! Oops! :sorry::sorry::sorry:

I was under the impression everyone was collaborating for a universal icon that both sides could use...

Gurney - you are forgiven :)

Are you handy with programmes for sorting out the proportions of the Patriarchal Cross ?

It really needs to be checked - proportions don't look quite right to me and I can't play with graphics programmes :(

Actually I've always thought that OO Cross and Episcopal Cross were very similar .

I reckon that if we went for the unadorned Patriarchal Cross it would be very individualistic - there's nothing else like it on CF

The EO have a simple cross, but it really stands out. I think the unadorned patriarchisl cross would have a similiar feel.
