Caleb the Kennizite and the Lineage of David

There was one Law for Jew and Gentile to live in the land of Israel, and keep
the Memorial Feasts. Salvation has always been by faith, not Law.
Was Caleb a Jew?
Numbers 14:24 But My servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit
in him and has followed Me fully, I will bring into the land where he went,
and his descendants shall inherit it.

Numbers 26:65 For the Lord had said of them, They shall surely die in
the wilderness. So there was not left a man of them, except Caleb the son
of Jephunneh and Joshua the son of Nun.

Numbers 32:
11 Surely none of the men who came up from Egypt, from twenty years old
and above, shall see the land of which I swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob,
because they have not wholly followed Me,
12 except Caleb the son of Jephunneh, the Kenizzite, and Joshua the son of Nun,
for they have wholly followed the Lord.

Caleb took a Hebrew wife, and established a lineage among the tribe
of Judah, of which David descended. David was not a pure blood Jew.

19 When Azubah died, Caleb took Ephrath as his wife, who bore him Hur.
50 These were the descendants of Caleb: The sons of Hur, the firstborn of Ephrathah, were Shobal the father of Kirjath Jearim,
51 Salma the father of Bethlehem, and Hareph the father of Beth Gad.

We trace the lineage of David from here, among the Ephrathites of Caleb,
and Ruth the Moabite.
Ruth 4:11 And all the people who were at the gate, and the elders, said,
We are witnesses. May the Lord make the woman who is coming to your house
like Rachel and Leah, the two who built the house of Israel; and may you
prosper in Ephrathah and be famous in Bethlehem.

of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel;

For that reason alone, I don't buy it.

Was not Esau Jacob’s brother? saith the Lord: yet I loved Jacob,[3] and hated Esau and laid waste his borders, and made his heritage as dwellings of the wilderness?[4] Because one will say, Idumea has been overthrown, but let us return and rebuild the desolate places; thus saith the Lord Almighty, They shall build, but I will throw down; and they shall be called The borders of wickedness, and, The people against whom the Lord has set Himself for ever.

If Ruth and Rahab are ancestors of Jesus, they're certainly not Edomites.

For that reason alone, I don't buy it.

And yet, he is listed in the genealogy of Judah.
If you can get your hands on a copy of the Jewish
Publication Society commentary on Bemidbar(Numbers)
edited by Rabbi Jacob Milgrom, you will find an excursis
on Caleb. He explains that Caleb is listed with Judah by
a process the rabbis referred to as "grafting in". You may
better understand Paul's teaching in Romans 11. Also, a
much more reliable reference than Wikipedia, which for
the record, I don't use.
If you can't find it, BUY IT.

Interesting. I have not looked into Caleb's history although on reading what you have said here, the verse that came to my mind was:

Romans 8:28
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
