That's pretty rude.

Same with gluttony too, eh? This is about far more than coffee.

It's about Christian hypocrisy and selective obedience.

Really? So since I work in a coffee shop I am going to hell right? I am a barista and will burn for serving up espresso...

HAHAHAH your hilarious

Hahah.

I think you're putting words in my mouth.

Show me one post where I said anything to do with hell and burning.

I think you have me confused with the fundamentalists hellfire preachers.

I think we all can agree that drinking coffee is not a sin and that this thread is straight up ridiculous.
I think the thread is supposed to be ridiculous. If I drink coffee and you drink beer who am I to tell you not to? It's about judging people like you don't have anything someone could judge.

Apparently believing in the Real Jesus is a sin too. He spoke in tongues. Communicated with the Devil. Hung out with the Sinners. Did miracles. Cursed and Blessed. He never read the New Testament or the gospels :O Oh my...oh did I mention he wore a thing that modern day people would say looks like a dress?

Most men wore tunics and robes then.

And Jesus never spoke in unknown tongues.

The rest, is true.

I have a problem with this thread.. the main problem is the natural drinks and foods caffine are found in all contain extremely important anti-oxidants... green tea (great for u) white tea (great for u), black tea (great for you).. chocolate (when dark, great for u).. even coffee has anti-oxidants in it. in case u guys dont know what anti-oxidants do they destroy free radicals.. which are basically particles in the body that oxidize dna (oxidation causes all sorts of damage up to and including cancer)... caffine has also been shown (in small doses) to increase concentration and improve mental ability... it's also been shown when given in small doses such as that in a cup of green tea.. it will not in any way impair your sleep..

I think there's a difference in the sins that are pointed out, I would say that most Christians would not disagree that gluttony/overeating is a sin, but yet take something like fornication, and you will get all sorts of excuses and reasons to justify it. Same with homosexuality.

Our culture, even within professed Evangelical Christianity, promotes and likes to give a pass to both fornication and homosexuality. (<as those 2 are the most common ones) I'm pretty sure if you had people treating gluttony as okay, you would have Christians speaking out more against that too.

I'm confused.

Christians (fundie or otherwise) do treat gluttony and laziness like it's okay. Show me an overweight and out of shape pastor, who is supposed to be a leader of the people, and I will show you a hypocrite.

Usually pastors that are fat have an excuse. I have a health condition, I was born fat, etc. My friend has a messed up thyroid and she gains weight very easily, but she also works out and eats very healthy to stay thin. She also gives no excuses.

Most people though, it is simply due to gluttony and laziness. If people overeat, gorge themselves on fast food and never exercise at all, it is little wonder why they are heavy.

Sure, you will find Christians like that, but the difference is you won't find a movement like you do with homosexuality & fornication that straight up want to make both completely acceptable and not referred to as sins.
