Take a look at this image... I found it in a book called called Our Living Bible, edited by Michael Avi-Yonah and Emil G. Kraeling. It's labeled as “Ships in a storm, from a Roman relief. Third century A.D.”I doubt Peter fished in the total nude. His loins were most likely girded. Fishing with a net on a sailboat is extremely hard work. Almost no men anywhere ever have done manual labor with their jewels unprotected.
This picture is found in the section covering “The Acts of the Apostles.” (p. 328)
Trigger warning... image contains a picture of sculpted nude men...
Notice the state of attire of the men in the boats...
In the third century A.D., they had no reason to create artwork like this unless it accurately captured how people worked in boats.
The testimony from a third century artist trumps any opinion any of us may have today.
Here's another shot of the same image... but this time including the book's label of the pic.
(By the way, I searched the internet and found it again... you have to "Sign up" at this site... free... but the book and page is HERE.)
