So X,XX,XXY,XYY,XXXY Genders don't exist ?
There are two genders: Masculine and Feminine. There are two sexes: male and female. Sex is determined by genotype, gender is not.

Gender is related to sex only accidentally; for example, male human beings have a sex but are feminine in relation to God.

Seems like those made up genders are really just classifications for people, but really have nothing to do with gender.

Astralgender: A gender that feels connected to space.

Thanks. You answered the question. The left has made up no genders, and there are only 2.
Someone made those classifications up, and claims that they are actual genders. Those people are certainly not on the right or center.

I'm surprised this thread has managed 6 pages of argumentation. As others have stated, No sulu is not gay because the man who played him and knows him best said he was not gay. And being gay for him to say that you can rest assured sulu was not gay. So for them to fundamentally alter the character just to be politically correct is utter crap.

Secondly many have made the point that I am not obligated to watch it, I believe I made that point in the beginning. I will not be watching it. I prefer to remember the characters the way they were and now the way they are taking them.

But, as has been noted, that was in an alternate universe. Spock wasn't dating Uhura in the original series, Kirk didn't serve under Pike, etc.

Too bad that you will miss the movie only because of this. It might not be all that good, but it could be a great flick.

I used to like star trek and other old movies. But new movies are crap.

I no longer watch much movies. Besides being crappy, they are short - only 1.5 hours.
How could you enjoy it if a movie is only 1.5 hours ? Good stories should be longer than that.

Also, they are more expensive compared to TV series.
They are all one and a half hour long, and the price ? Around $15 for cinema, around $40 - 50 for DVD.
TV series are much much much longer, and the price ? Only around $14 - $50 for DVD.
___________________________________________________________

Anyway, reading books is still better than watching TV series or movies.

I agree with you regarding books. I will take a good book over a movie or television any day. I try to read 50 books every year.

I have to disagree regarding movie length. 90 minutes is about what my bladder can handle--longer then that and I have to make a bathroom run.

I've been a fan of Star trek, the wagon train to the stars all of my life. It began the year I was born and I've seen everything they have done. I knew sooner or later they would shove the gay agenda down my throat and I guess now is the time. The new Sulu will have a husband. The original Actor George Takei who is gay himself tried to talk them out of it. It's extremely low hanging fruit to choose Sulu just because George was gay but that's Hollywood.
Yep. Before that it was Spock and Uhura so they could pimp the interracial bit, and Worf and Troi before that. Just 3 out of a zillion examples of Hollywood shoving their agenda down society's throat any way they can. What fun!

Frankly this one is no loss to me though since IMO most of the ST movies and the last series sucked anyway. I'm quite done with any interest in anything ST, much like I was over Star Wars when Lucas starting milking that to death and then some.

PS: as guys with a balanced, common sense mindset like Sulu age and die off and the bleeding heart morons proliferate, this kind of thing will only get worse. And those who dare to question or disagree with it and say so will be skewered with still more passive aggressive gibberish, while the cowards who remain silent run for the hills.

Enjoy the ride folks.......wheeeeee......

Having a gay character is not shoving the "gay agenda" down anyone's throat. A certain percentage of the population today identifies as being gay, why would that not be the case in the future? It is simply reflective of society.
Amazingly, the point flew right over your head. It isn't simply having a gay character, it's CHANGING Sulu to be one.

First, exactly what is wrong with an interracial relationship? Some thought it was wrong when ST had television's first interracial kiss back in the 60s but most of us don't have an issue with it now. It certainly wasn't an issue of shoving anything down anyone's throat by the time TNG came around.

Second, when people start using terms like "bleeding heart morons" and "passive aggressive gibberish" it is a sign that they have nothing constructive to add to the conversation.

And if you took the time to read the thread you know that I realize that. As I already said, there have been a number of changes in the reboot. Spock is dating the communications officer, Kirk was serving under Pike. Neither happened in TOS. Further, we don't know what Sulu's sexual orientation was in TOS--the character was never developed to that point. We know that in the mirror universe Sulu and Uhura apparently had something going on, but that wouldn't directly relate to the Star Trek universe.

Much as I enjoyed TOS, I actually thought that The Next Generation was better. TOS was primarily centered around Kirk, Spock and McCoy. TNG was much more of an ensemble production. Just my opinion of course...
I completely agree.

Shatner playing Kirk -vs- Stewart playing Picard? No contest.

Freedom has always been an important issue with Conservatives. Enforced conformity is the virtue valued by their opponents.
No. Enforced conformity is a conservative value. Liberals want to be liberated from those enforcements. Trump is said he is running on a Nixon-esque "Law and Order" platform. Very conservative, very much enforcement.

Would you call McCarthyism "liberal?"

That is such an incorrect statement, Dave, that it's like saying Marxists aren't interested in economics or Fascists are pacifists.

It leaves the reader wondering "where to start" to correct the misperception, or whether it's really worth the effort.

Did you look at the other question? Do you know who Sen. Joseph McCarthy was? Blacklisting?

I hate to have to explain this to you, Dave, but Senator Joseph McCarthy does not define Conservatism any more than Rev. Al Sharpton defines Liberalism.

More shoving the homosexual agenda in my face. No thanks. No matter who talks about it; no matter how loud or how often, I'm never, ever, ever going to accept an abominable lifestyle. You can't wrap it up in popular culture to make it "okay". It's not.

Being that it is a fictional show, the marriage is also fictional.

Why get so bent out of shape over something made up?
