Biblical Dreams About Maggots: What Do Maggots Mean in the Bible?

This isn't really a dream I had, but I would like to know what maggots are symbollic of in the bible.

From a Biblical perspective (rather than a Dream Dictionary) maggots seem to represent a symbolic of decay or God's judgement of man in some way if you take 'worm' to mean the same as maggot.

Here is what the Bible says about maggots, and a few passages that demonstrate this.

The book of Job is littered with references to worms.

Even poor old Jonah had a worm problem.

If it is in relation to a dream you've had then please share it so it can be seen in context and don't just fixate on this, as maggots in a dream may well be symbolic of something else altogether.

It's been fun for me 'fishing' through scripture for maggots and worms if you'll pardon the bad pun.

my Strong's dictionary gives the definition of maggot this way

8438 ... maggot worm, crimson grub

Without checking the links...
Moth and rust consume, and so do maggots. Man builds up prowess through work, and their efforts are destroyed by parasitic action, things that grow and increase off the stored energy.
I think there are also verses on carcass action... the topic is plenty graphic enough that you can figure this out without my description.
