Baptist Faith & Message (2000 edition) Do you agree with it 100%?

Is there any part of the BF&M that you think could be revised or completely re-done, and if so what would you believe it should say?

In other words, do you agree with it 100% or would you change it.

If I could find out what people's exact Baptist denomination is just for kicks and giggles that would be great too.

Have to admit I haven't reviewed it yet. Are their any verses that stand out to you?

I stick to my NIV most of the time, unless I need to go back to the original texts for any greek-to-english discrepancies.

There are minor things in there that I might disagree with. Otherwise it's Biblical.

Disagree with what?

If you don't want to discuss it here, you can PM me.

Well it fully affirms OSAS, but I'd like to know what they mean by "free agency"

Election is the gracious purpose of God, according to which He regenerates, justifies, sanctifies, and glorifies sinners. It is consistent with the free agency of man, and comprehends all the means in connection with the end. It is the glorious display of God's sovereign goodness, and is infinitely wise, holy, and unchangeable. It excludes boasting and promotes humility.

I'm keenly aware they're not using "will" here, but rather "agency."

It goes back to the debate on "Libertarian Free-will".

I guess it's just not reformed enough for me.

The SBC CoF, is basically Calvinistic by nature.

I would urge you to review some to more historic Baptist CoF's in history.

But you also must be mindful that Baptist in America have always had two sides just like a coin. An Arminian, and Calvinistic.

And 2, it does not matter whether you are Arminian or Calvinistic Baptist, we are not "Reformed".

There are some things that the "Reformed" theology teach and do that does not fit into Baptist theology. Baptism being one.

There is an excellent article on the internet if you can find it called "Are Baptists Reformed" by Lawrence Justice.

You should give it a read.

In fact, if you search this area (Baptist), I have posted it numerous times.

God Bless

Till all are one.
