In mathematics, a dot product (inner product) is an algebraic operation that requires two sequences of numbers of equal length. A dot product of two vectors is also known as a scalar product. The word of G-d can be considered on four different levels of meaning, just as there are four different gospels to give us a more complete picture of Christ.

Pashat is the literal meaning of the verses. One simply reads the text.

Remes means suggestive. The text points to a deeper truth than one realizes on the surface. Gematria is one of the Torah's methods of pointing out connections.

Darash means allegorical/figurative and reveals the deeper homiletic meaning (theological sense).

Sod is the mystical part, the deep dimension of the Torah. Hidden secrets are discovered, e.g. hidden meanings of the Hebrew words.

The figurative translation of Eden is not difficult to understand: Eden is a place where one opens the door and enters the path that leads to life.

It is not a tree whose graceful, fruit-laden branches invite you to pluck and eat of its delicious fruit. It is a repulsive, dead, seemingly lifeless, rough tree. An exposed tree. There are no low-hanging, leafy branches with delicious fruit on this rough, dead tree. Instead of the scent of sweet fruit, this tree has the stench of death.

This simple tree neither seduces the eyes nor enlivens the taste buds.

Eve looked at the lush, beautiful tree in the Garden of Eden and she wanted to eat of the forbidden fruit.

Jesus Christ looks down from a leafless, dead tree where He willingly removed the iron nails that held Him in that terrible, wondrous place, and there He looks down upon lost, wretched sinners and desires them. The Prince of Heaven, who created everything, humbled Himself and became man to present himself as an atoning sacrifice for the sins of mankind, and He did it on a lifeless tree.

Jesus Christ took the sin of Adam and all of Adam's children, including you and me

For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of G-d. 1 Cor 1:18

He has become Eden for us, the only entrance to eternal life.

In the biblical story of the fiery furnace in the book of Daniel, we find a mystery. In this account, an unknown fourth “person” is found in the fire.

Who is this fourth “person”?

The Bible doesn't tell us, or does it?

Does the Hebrew imagery give us clues to identify this “person”?

The prophet Daniel tells us about the problems the Israelites faced when they were forced into Babylonian culture after the captivity. Their refusal to obey the commandments of the G-d of Israel had led to judgment and consequences.

Three of the young Hebrew men who had been taken captive were forced to make a life-changing decision. They had to worship a golden statue made by King Nebuchadnezzar or die in his furnace

Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that G-d that shall deliver you out of my hands? Dan 3:15

The response of the three men Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego is one of the greatest statements of faith for us in all of Scripture

If it be so, our G-d whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up. Dan 3:17-18

True to his word, Nebuchadnezzar had these three men, who were faithful to their G-d, thrown into the fiery furnace.

To his astonishment, not only did they not perish, but it turned out that they had a companion with them in the furnace

He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of G-d. Dan 3:25

This fourth man is not identifiable to us. Is he an angel or is this perhaps a theophany, a physical appearance of Jesus Christ in the OT?

Let's examine the Hebrew word for furnace, kuwr, which is spelled Kaf/Khaf, Vav, Resh, and see if we can solve this riddle.

Kaf/Khaf is a picture of a palm and means to cover, to open, to allow or to atone.
Vav is the image of a wooden hook or an iron nail and means to join or connect things that are separate from each other
Resh is the image of the head and means the master, the leader or the prince

The symbolic meaning of the number 200 in the Bible is that of inadequacy. A man named Achan sees 200 shekels of silver and other goods among the spoils of Jericho and takes them, even though the Lord has forbidden him to do so. Joshua learns of the theft and, after finding the goods in Achan's tent, has him stoned to death. This teaches that money is not enough to save someone from the consequences of sin.

The mother of a man named Micah had two hundred shekels of silver melted down and turned into an idol. Micah used his mother's idol to build his own “house of worship”. Over time, idolatry grew and was taken over by the tribe of Dan, which became the first Israelite tribe to engage in idolatry (and is perhaps the reason Dan does not appear in Revelation). This example shows that a man-made religion is not enough to please G-d.

King David's son Absalom tried to take the throne from his father. David sent an army against him and was victorious. When Absalom fled on a mule, he got his hair, which weighed 200 shekels, stuck in a tree under which he was riding. After Joab, one of David's generals, found out that Absalom was stuck in a tree, he had him killed.

When John the Baptist saw the coming Messiah, Jesus Christ, he declared this in the Gospel of John

The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of G-d, which taketh away the sin of the world. John 1:29

Jesus Christ, the perfect Lamb of G-d, is the instrument of the heavenly Father who is used for our salvation in the difficult circumstances of life, not for our salvation out of them. He is the one who will ultimately save us from sin, since we are not able to do this ourselves

In the fiery furnace of suffering He reveals Himself to us and perfects us as we walk with Him.

There is a final indication that the fourth man and the furnace are Lord Jesus Christ. The Hebrew letter Dalet is also the number 4

This number has the same digits as 434, a numerical anagram of the numerical value for door.

The word Dalet is associated with the word dal, which means weak or needy. Dalet is also the first letter of the word dur, which means
to dwell. This reveals the full meaning of dalet as the door through which the humble enter into the realization of G-d. G-d-realization cannot be lost, it is permanent.

The Midrash says that G-d has the desire to have a home in the lower world. The fulfillment of this desire begins with the creation of man, a G-dly soul encased in a physical body, and proceeds with the multiplication of man to conquer the whole world and make it the kingdom of G-d

In the book of Daniel, we read about the Babylonian captivity of the southern kingdom

Now among these were of the children of Judah, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: Unto whom the prince of the eunuchs gave names: for he gave unto Daniel the name of Belteshazzar; and to Hananiah, of Shadrach; and to Mishael, of Meshach; and to Azariah, of Abednego. Dan 1:6-7


His pride led King Nebuchadnezzar to make and erect a golden statue

To you it is commanded, O people, nations, and languages, That at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king hath set up: Dan 3:4-5

He threatened Daniel's companions, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednegro

Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands? Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the form of his visage was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: therefore he spake, and commanded that they should heat the furnace one seven times more than it was wont to be heated. And he commanded the most mighty men that were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace. Then these men were bound in their coats, their hosen, and their hats, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. Therefore because the king's commandment was urgent, and the furnace exceeding hot, the flames of the fire slew those men that took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Dan 3:19-22

Then we read of a miraculous phenomenon in the fiery furnace

And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonished, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king. He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of G-d. Dan 3:23-25

The liberation of Meshach, Shadrach and Abed-nego was an amazing and miraculous event. The furnace was real and the flames were hot. The soldiers who carried the prisoners to the furnace to throw them in perished because of the extreme heat. Why does a fourth “person” have to appear now?

It only complicates the whole miracle story. Well, the king just noticed that there were four people walking around in the oven, although he only had three thrown in. Well, when it really comes to the truth, unexpected complications often arise.

The king concluded that the fourth person must be a heavenly being. He describes the surprising guest in the oven as being like

the Son of G-d. Dan 3:25

and as G-d's

angel Dan 3:28

When he commanded the three friends to come out of the furnace, this invitation only applied to the three of them. He did not address the fourth being, G-d's special servant.

Who is this fourth being who looks like a G-dly being?

The gematria of the Hebrew names of Daniel and his companions tell us.

Names have meaning. Parents often choose a name for their children based on what they think it means. In reading the first chapter of Daniel, something interesting emerges about the power of the names of Daniel and his friends.

Why do names change?

What made the Hebrew names unacceptable to the Babylonians?

The meaning of their Hebrew names centered on the one true G-d:

Daniel means G-d is my judge,
Hananiah means G-d is kind/gracious,
Mishael means Who is like G-d?
Azariah means G-d has helped.

Let's compare this with their new names, whose meaning was centered on several Babylonian idols:

Belteshazzar means Baal protect the king,
Sadrach means the commandment of Aku (Aku was the moon g-d of the Babylonians),
Meshach means Who is like Aku?
Abednego means servant/slave of G-d Nego.

Assigning new names was a common judicial practice in the ancient world. Their obvious intention was to change the entire identity of the name bearer until life conformed to the new title.

In fact, G-d is the one who established the concept of a name change in the beginning. G-d changed Abram's name to Abraham, which means father of the multitude of nations.

Lord Jesus followed in the footsteps of His heavenly Father and gave the apostle Simon the name Peter, which means stone

And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone. John 1:42

On the basis of the gematria and the context, we can conclude that the fourth “person” was the Son of G-d in a pre-incarnate form (before his incarnation), Jesus Christ.

Do numbers in scripture really have meaning?

Are there patterns and meanings in them that are put there by G-d?

Is there a holy being in charge of numbers and their revelation to us?

Does the Bible describe Him and can we determine His identity?

Who is behind the scenes orchestrating the occurrence and meaning of numbers in the scriptures?

In the book of Daniel, Daniel is given a vision, and in this vision it describes how long the sanctuary will be trampled underfoot and the sacrifices stopped. There are three “persons” in this scene, and the particular saint gives an answer to the first saint's question for Daniel to understand

Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain saint which spake, How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot? And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed. Dan 8:13-14

The person in question, Hebrew palmoni, speaks of numbers. Who is this saint in question who knows the exact number that measures or counts the time of the desolation of the temple?

This expression occurs only once in the Hebrew Bible. Also in the book of Ruth we find such a strange expression, such a one!, peloni in Hebrew.

Then went Boaz up to the gate, and sat him down there: and, behold, the kinsman of whom Boaz spake came by; unto whom he said, Ho, such a one! turn aside, sit down here. And he turned aside, and sat down. Rut 4:1

The words peloni and palmoni are related. The word palmoni is a contraction of two words, pala, which means to be marvelous or outstanding/exceptional, and manah, which means to count, number or reckon.

Thus we can explain that the name of the particular saint is the miraculous numberer. What do the ancient Hebrew pictographs tell us about this saint?

The perception of a mighty deed will either be associated with life or with chaos and destruction.


What is this mighty deed?

The counting of the days of future desolation. Daniel's numberer reveals to Daniel that there will be chaos and destruction in the temple, but that time will end in a certain number of days. One day there will be life there again.

We have yet to identify the two saints with Daniel.

A few verses later, one of the saints is addressed as the angel Gabriel

And I heard a man's voice between the banks of Ulai, which called, and said, Gabriel, make this man to understand the vision. Dan 8:16

But who is the palmoni, the miraculous numberer?

The word pala is derived from a noun used for miracles, and this is mainly associated with G-d. For the first time in the first book of Moses, where Moses writes

Is any thing too hard for the Lord? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son. Gen 18:14

The word pele brings us to the realization that the Lord can perform any miracle. However, the best indication is found in Isaiah, where the prophet describes the future Messiah

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty G-d, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Isa. 9:6

The word wonderful is pele and so Isaiah confirms for us that the name of the Messiah is to be called wonderful or pele. The Messiah, Jesus, the Christ, is called palmoni, the wonderful numberer.
