Space Marines baby! I realy dont know where to start on how to explain why I love them. Well, when I first saw the name space marine I thought to myself "U.S.M.C. or Royal Marine commandos". But it turns out there a little of that mixed in with some midevil knights and battle monks. My favorit Space Marines chapter are the Black templars. Im sarting to get into Space Wolves. I also like Dark Angels.

Ah, good ol' Space Marines. 40K's trademark, and understandably so. I too really enjoy the Black Templars, though they have the potential to be really problematic with their hatred for psykers. Love the Space Wolves, but Dark Angels are among my least favorite, solely for their secrecy and tendency to dip out on a fight when one of the Fallen are near.

Have you looked into the Blood Angels chapter? Heck, have you read any of the novels at all? Great stuff and a nominal way to get into the setting, if you've not perused some already.

Oh yes I have read some novels. Ive read Rynn's World(Crimson Fists), Helsreach(Black Tenplars), Hunt for Voldorius(White Scars), and I just started reading The Pruging of Kadillus(Dark Angels). I also looked into the Ultramarines Omnibus. I also have a couple of other WH40K books I plan on reading.

I have looked into the blood angels. At first they didnt peak my interest but for some reason I am starting to love them now. Although Im not a big fan of the vampire element much.

For the record, I dont have any miniatures at all cause of money problems so I dont play the table top. Althoug, I always wanted to start a Space Marine army if I could. The thing is..... I would not know what Space Marine chapter to start with.

I don't have money for miniatures either, mang. Though, if I did, I would then have the problem of deciding whether I wanted to play Word Bearers, Blood Angels, Orks, or the Vostroyan Firstborn. >.>

Wow. Seems you've done more reading than I, then! XD I mostly stick to Ciaphas Cain, by Sandy Mitchell, but I've also really enjoyed Dan Abnett's Ravenor trilogy and Gav Thorpe's Raven's Flight short story. Once I'm out of grad school I plan to read a lot more of it.

By chance, have you done like me and supplemented your lack of tabletop with the vidja games?

PS: I'd check up on the Ultramarines omnibus first, I THINK that's the one written by an author who really wrecked 'em, according to an old friend of mine. Kind of a not-so-subtle racist too, as he calls the Salamanders' black skin a "genetic defect." I forget the name and what exactly he wrote, though. >_< I can check up on it if you like.

I have decent sized Ultramarines and Imperial Guard armies. I built them back in the 90's for 2nd edition, and later modified for 3rd. The game is so expensive now that I can't imagine building an army from retail purchases. Both armies feature troops and armor and are painted fairly well, not "golden daemon" quality but with highlights, shading, etc.

I haven't played in more than 10 years but can't bring myself to sell them. I know as soon as I do, I'd find the time to play or my son would take an interest.

1. What do you mean by wrecked 'em?
2. Im reading the Purging of Kadillus and the main characters name is Captian Belial. I googled his name and nothing warhammer related showed up. Instead, just a bunch of information that said Belial is one of the names of the devil. I read a wiki article that said Belial is mentiond in the Christian Bible in 2 Corinthians 6:15 "What accord has Christ with Belial? Or what portion does a believer share with an unbeliever?". Heck, even the satanic bible mentions him being one the princes of hell or something like that! I was like "WHAT THE HECK, IS THIS CHARACTER I WANTED TO KNOW MORE ABOUT WHO I THOUGHT WAS COOL NAMED AFTER SATAN!!!". Is Captian Belial of the Dark Angels' 3rd company named after satan?

The Dark Angels have a sordid past, as you'll see from reading further. And they use a lot of biblical/hebrew names, especially angelic ones. EG, their chapter master is named Azrael. The name commonly attributed to the angel of death, if I recall. So he's probably named after a fallen angel, and by no mistake either.

Also, Matt Ward was apparently the bad Ultramarines author, according to my friend who reads more 40K than I. By wrecked 'em, I mean he supposedly made them come off as entirely TOO arrogant, hard to relate to, etc, while Graham McNeil's ultramarines are much more likeable and knightly.

Kelly, keep 'em for retirement! Be that cool granddad who kicks around the snot-nosed kids who think the tyranids are cool! XD

Let's see,

I have;

Imperial Guard (my own regiment)
Minotaur Space Marines
Grey Knights
Iron Warriors Chaos Marines

I was building a 30k Word Bearer army, but with the price hikes that got scraped.

Enjoy the books, Brothers of the Snakes is good. Gaunts Ghosts is a good series. I usually go for the Imperial Guard books the most.

Oh yeah, and I was an outrider for GW.

Outriders job is to go out into independent retail shops, demonstrate the games, teach new players how to play and how to paint, and promote the game. Outriders are volunteers who are paid in miniatures. They use to be everywhere but as GW got bigger, they were phased out. Until two months ago, Japan was the last to have one. For now at least, they had to discontinue the outriders.

Dang that sucks. I could realy use an outrider. Getting paid in miniatures sounds awesome.

I played an Eldar army many years ago when the game first came out. One of my old gaming friends is quite popular on YouTube for his videos on mini conversions and painting. Love the game, would like to get back into it.

Well, I'm not a christian, but I do play 40k and fantasy. Have played/play Necrons, Witch Hunters, Tau, Imperial Guard, Eldar, Tyranids and Marines. Fantasy armies are Lizardmen, Dark Elves and High Elves.

I'm more into painting/conversion than the games though. I have miniatures from almost every army. I absolutely adore painting my Dark Elves though.
