Anxiety or Gods Voice

How can I tell the difference between anxiety or Gods voice? Recently I felt like God may have been telling me no to going somewhere and I had severe anxiety over it but I know what I am doing is not sinful so Im stuck between knowing if He is telling me no for whatever reason or if I am just resisting His no. I had this feeling because I really really wanted to go out to this place so I was afraid that because I had such a deep desire for it I was idolizing it and because of that He did not want me to go anymore. How do you identify how to tell between Gods voice and anxiety? I cant keep living like this and doing things I am unsure of and then repenting just in case it was really God saying no. I want to obey his voice but I also do not want to miss out if I am just overthinking. If anyone can offer any help that would be great.

If you have to wonder if it was God's voice then i feel confident to say it wasn't God's voice.

It more sounds like a conscious enslaved to legalism. Legalism will bring fear and anxiety, etc.

But let us not see the law as something bad. What would society be like without the law? There are thieves and murderers and rapists. I'm grateful for the law that strikes fear in them and places them in prison, but the law will not lead you to freedom in Christ where you can become a prisoner of God's love.

Jesus set you free from the law of sin and death, not by abolishing the law, but by crucifying your old nature on the cross with him. He paid the price to liberate you from that sinner. You enter into that by faith through grace in Him.

You feel guilty and condemned? It isn't God's voice. It's the law operating in your conscious. You want to rob a bank, better you don't do it due to God's love operating in your heart, but if you are not operating in his love and proceed forward anyway, the law will be waiting to arrest you. And you won't be liberated by trying to follow the law. It doesn't have the power to change you and your desires. It only has power to arrest you. If you are walking in God's love you are living above the law where Christ put you in Him.

Jesus liberated you, not so you can continue sinning, but so that you now have his Spirit in you to awaken your spirit to his love. God knows you desire things over Him now and He's not condemning you. He knows it will eventually lead to dissatisfaction without Him. He is inviting you to draw close to Him and allow Him to awaken you to his love.

So you rather go to a party instead of seeking God in his Word or however, you are free to go to the party without guilt and condemnation, just take God with you. Let his light shine in darkness.

Unless He tells you otherwise and if He does you will know it was Him and He will give you the power and grace to see you through. He's not condemning you, He's inviting you to get to know Him where his love will make your heart a prisoner of Him and his love. He wants to win you over, not force Himself on you.

I have the same problem. I have psychosis and I hear voices in my mind sometimes. What do you see as an idol? How can going somewhere become an idol? Idolatry is something sinful like love for money or an actual idol perhaps.

We have his word in the bible. This should be sufficient. The thoughts that arise in our minds can benefit from being subject to our control.

I kinda see the words of christ and his apostles as my new mind. In a way it's like the mind of Christ in my humble opinion. The Spirit uses the scripture to teach us.

I have general anxiety disorder, PTSD, fro my years in law enforcement. If I feel very anxious, it definitely doesn't feel like it's coming from God. I feel, if anything, it coming from Satan. Getting back to my faith, RC, with daily bible readings and the Rosary, have been a blessing to my mental health.
