There is not much information on Antipas -- who is mentioned in Revelation chapter two -- but what info there is MIGHT impact the date of the writing of the book of Revelation
Antipas was allegedly the Bishop of Pergamum and was allegedly burned inside of a bronze bull and his death is usually given as happening in 92 A.D.
However - recently I went to eastern Orthodox forum because the only traditions about Antipas of Pergamum are in some sort of "Orthodox Fox Book of Martyrs" allegedly written about 1000 years ago
a link provided to me by an Orthodox brother led me to an article that said the date of Antipas' death was disputed -- that it could be 92 A.D. or 68 A.D.
so the tradition about Antipas cannot truly solve the dating of Revelation at all
but I got to thinking
does preterism NECESSARILY "fall to the ground" if Revelation was indeed "written late" i.e. - mid-90's A.D.?
could not a book be written in mid-90's A.D. which actually describes events that happened in 70 A.D.?
I have been wondering -- ever since I saw the link that described the date of Antipas' death as EITHER 68 or 92 A.D. -- does it even matter in the final analysis when Revelation was written?
I guess technically in this forum I can only address Partial Prets and ask "what say ye"?
Is preterism laying too heavy a brick on itself to INSIST That Revelation HAD TO HAVE BEEN written early - i.e. before Jerusalem fell?
