Anointing or baptism

I heard A.W. Tozer say there is a definite difference between being "anointed" and being "baptized." He said Jesus was "anointed" with the Holy Spirit but was never baptized with the Holy Spirit.

What is the difference between being "anointed with the Holy Spirit" and being "baptized with the Holy Spirit?"

Tozer said that without clarifying what they considered to be the difference between the terms ?

And , people wonder why I don't listen to these so-called "experts" .

1 Cor 12:13 For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.

The baptism of the Spirit places us (believers) into the body of Christ.

Christ was annointed as the Messiah.

I believe I remember Jesus being baptized in the Jordan by John the Baptist. If I remember the Spirit of God coming down upon Him like a dove as He came up out of the water.

I also remember when Jesus told His disciples that it was imperative that He leave that He could send the Holy Spirit back to them.

Old Testament has always shown an anointing, but not an indwelling. The indwelling could not take place until Christ took His rightful place at the right hand of God. The day of Pentecost was the first event of the indwelling of the Spirit.

Jesus was not merely 'anointed' nor 'baptized' with the Holy Spirit or (Holy Spirit's power):

For He (Christ) whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto Him. (Jn.3:34)

I do..I think the Spirit can manifest Himself in unbelievers/believers or basically where He wills for some purpose. I think for the "indwelling" one must confess Jesus as savior, be baptized (which is in accordance with my faith tradition) and live a life holy and pleasing to God.

This is why Christ told us: "Watch out for false prophets. (Matthew 7:15)" I tell you, there is no difference, and I will tell you this as well, do not quarrel about words, just like Apostle Paul warned us.

Let's look at Mark 1:9, first in English, and then in the original Koine Greek.

At that Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan.

Here we can see from Mark's account that Jesus was baptized. However, some may object, saying that the translation can also mean he was annointed. To settle this, we much look at the original Koine greek that the Gospel of Mark was written in. The following is an excerpt of Mark 1:9

Ἰησοῦς ἀπὸ Ναζαρὲθ τῆς Γαλιλαιας και ἐβαπτίζθη ὑπὀ Ἰωάννου
Jesus from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized by John

If you look at the word ἐβαπτίζθη (pronounced ebaptiztha), you will see that it means "was baptized". This verb means to baptize and indeed it is the very verb from which the english word "baptize" arose! When looked at closely, there is no real leeway from interpretation. Jesus Christ was most indeed baptized in the Jordan River by John the Baptist.

Hmm...that is very interesting....did not the heaveans open up and the Holy Spirit "come down" after his baptism? I would say (and this is just humble speculation) that he was baptized in the Holy Spirit, because it seems that after this he became aware of his vocation as the messiah (although he obviously had inclinations prior). What would be the point of the Holy Spirit coming down on him if that is not what occured? Of course, since he was the divine Logos, would the baptism in the Holy Spirit have been required??? This really is a very interesting question.
