Just to be fair to the Great Archdiocese of Sydney. They have a long history we well known as a reformed tradition Diocese. They were founded and established during the Irish Potato Famine and before the Oxford Movement. The legacy continued, and has been to source of many tales where sometimes fact would have got in the way of a good story. Moore Theological College staffed famously by Hammond and the Knox, and strongly reformed. In the early 1980's and 1990's the Jensen party had great sway over the affairs of the Diocese, and they really did make Zwingli look like a Catholic. When Peter Jensen resigned the See and went to work with GAFCON, there was a hard fought campaign and Glen Davies was elected, who represents a return to roots of Evangelical Anglicanism, and walking away from non liturgical Anglicanism. This reprieve has helped keep the Anglican Church of Australia together as it certainly looked like it might fracture in 1000 pieces.

There's a long way to go, though, even to get back to kind of "normal" relations between Sydney and the rest of Australia. I don't know whether you see this where you are, Philip, but I see a solid stream of "Sydney refugees," (not just women and gay men, either), and I think it's really sad that we can't manage to grow a little closer together.
