Framing LGBT people as threats to social order and public morality has been a major cause for activism of the Religious Right for decades.

The opposition isn't so much against gay persons but rather the gay movement/gay lobby and the whole ideology that is behind it.
I have yet to see gay activists seek to offer reading sessions to people in nursing homes, prisons, hospitals, the house-bound and the lonely (ie, those who would welcome human interaction) Why do the drag kings and drag queens seek audiences among the little children only?

Have you considered that typically in the past, there was more prejudice against LGBT persons among the elderly?

I didn't consider it that way because it's a terrible explanation.
What about the other groups? Why target children?
