I googled and found this, "The possibility of harm to a developing baby has not been ruled out. Advair Diskus should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the risk."

http://www.healthsquare.com/newrx/adv1576.htm

I certainly wouldn't take it without talking to your doctor.

According to the advair website, it should only be used in pregnancy if the benefit outweight the possible risks to your unborn child. They also recommend NOT using it while breastfeeding.

How controled is your asthma? If you've been on this long term, stopping cold turkey, might send your body for a loop. I do not know which province your in but most provincal health care places have a 1-800 nurse number. You can call and ask questions or call and ask to speak to a nurse at your local ER.

Then get to a doctor ASAP during the week.

My DH is asthmatic and he had a lot of trouble with Advair but if you like it, maybe you could find another once a day inhailor to use which will be less harmful to your baby or see if you can live with just using the fast acting inhailor. My DH switched from advair to singular which really helps.

I feel your pain. I *just* started taking Advair the week I got pregnant and when I found out I was pregnant I stopped. I have a really hard time keeping my asthma managed because of the tropical climate here. I would definitely give your doctor a ring on Monday and even if you can't get in, see if you can talk to a nurse about calling in a new prescription for you.

I agree I would stop taking it unless you get an ok from your doctor or at least a nurse. Are you struggling with your asthma tonight? I've been struggling with it tonight myself. I've never been on Advair though, I just have an albuterol inhaler for now. I had my first asthma attack right before I found out I was pregnant and had to have a breathing treatment, they wanted me to go on some sort of steroids for a while but I declined because I don't like them and thank goodness I didn't because I found out I was pregnant a week later. My asthma seemed to taper off since I've been pregnant, tonight is the first night I've had any trouble since I got pregnant. I'd just be very careful and wait for an ok from a nurse or doctor.

my asthma has been awful since i got pregnant.
what will happen to my baby if i keep taking advair? i mean like what kind of side effects are there?
This is probably something that should be discussed with your doctor. We can all tell you what we think but it's best to play it safe and talk to your doctor.
