I'm kinda wondering about this...what exactly is it..what do you do, and how has it helped you? And what is the "theology" behind it all (for lack of a better word..)? LOL sorry so many questions... I'm just curious and hopefully this is a good place to ask :)
If you want to, you're welcome to share any experiences you had :)

God bless

Monica it's praying in front of the Lord's presence in the Holy Eucharist. Instead of receiving Him, we come before Him and pray.

here is a link that has where you can find more info, click on the gate and go in on the first page.

Monica, the center of the christian catholic belief is focused on the Blessed Sacrament (Eucharist). This is my heart of hearts. The presence is so Holy. When I go it is a very special time between the Lord and I. Very private and special. The prayers are extremely intense for me and I usually receive immediate answers through our Lords Holy Spirit. On my fast days when I go pray before the blessed sacrament, I can feel the graces flowing even more. If I could lay flat on my face on the floor every time I went, giving myself to the Lord I would. I usually can't because of other people being there. There is nothing like adoring our Lord. This is when I hear the voice of God our father, our Lord Jesus, and the Holy Spirit the clearest. Peace and Blessings.

hehe, Isabella, I know some people over where we pray here who lay down flat on their faces in the adoration chapel for a very long time. They don't care who sees them, and no one ever seems to mind. After all, it is the Lord Jesus' presence there.

I can't tell you how many times that as I opened the door to the chapel, the Lord spoke to me instantly and says "Take off your shoes."

Monica, if you go there, really take off your shoes.

Oh yes, the Holy ground. I have been prompt by the Holy Spirit as well to do that. But i am ashamed to say, I have not been as obedient as you CF. If it was common practice here and others were on their face, I am sure I would too. But I always ask the Lord to make me invisible, so that I don't cause any disturbance for others. I don't like others to see me when I pray because of the intensity of it. I don't like being stared at. I guess I have to get over it. LOL. My daughter is a wonderful example of following the Holy Spirit. It doesn't matter who is around, if the Holy Spirit prompts her to do something. Its done out of her amazing obedience. She doesn't even have thoughts on it, and doesn't even notice people being around her. When the Lord calls her,she seams to bewrapped up in only him. I need to take note and learn from her. I can only do that in private, or when there is vary few people around it appears. Now I see why we need to be as children to come to the Lord. Peace and Blessings.

CatholicFlame I love the second video! My parish has Adoration on every First Friday from 9:00 am Mass until Vespers and Benediction at 6:30 PM. I have made it to almost every Adoration in the last four years. I love the times that I am sitting with Jesus and no one else is there. I often feel as if I am sitting at His feet listening to what He has to tell me.

We have a relatively new priest at our parish and last year for the Stations of the Cross, Father began by placing the host on the alter. After the Stations we had Benediction and then the host was put back in the tabernacle. I am hoping that Father does this again this Lent, it made the Stations so much more, and that is saying a lot for me because I am so blessed when I am meditating on the Passion of Christ.

Monica if you have a chance to go to Adoration, I would highly recommend it. God's presence is so real because He is really there.

God Bless,
Nancy

The Holy Eucharist is the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ, so, when we spend time in adoration of the Holy Eucharist, we are in the presence of Christ Himself. I've been doing this for about twenty five years and this practice has helped me grow in leaps and bounds spiritually. I try to spend as much time as possible with our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. I have been truly blessed by spending this time with our Lord.

CF I love the Adoration clips. I was just thinking I might share something personal I do when I receive communion. Whenever I am receiving our Lord in communion, (for one thing I never am able to control my tears), and the other thing I do because I love him so much, after receiving the Eucharist in my hand, I feel compelled to kiss our Lord, I don't really know why I do this. But it is such a gift. Peace and Blessings.

I know what you mean Nancy about sitting alone with our Lord. It is the most special time.

Adoration of Jesus (because that is it in fact) is needed by every one catholic.
There are 5 pillars of spiritual living:

1. Eucharist - is the food for my soul. Most important. Without that "food" your soul will die. We all know people, who are death inside. Jesus said, "I tell you the truth (=literally), unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you" (John 6:53). Eucharist is just lifegiving.
It's the reason why take Eucharist every one day.

2. Confession - you have to clean my soul from time to time. You was, you are and you will be a sinner. It's just impossible to life in this world without sinns. To have peace in heart you have to live in grace. Confession remove sinns and gives the grace back. Many people believe their conviction, that God will forgive them and the inner confession only in heart is all, what is necessery. No, it is not enough. Emotions, private deep conviction - it is all nothing. One day you have it - other day you have not. You need the sacramental confession (where living Jesus works) to be sure, that your soul is clean after that. Confession is essential for spiritual life. It's lifegiving like Eucharist.

3. Adoration. Adoration is looking at Jesus. There is not necessery to speak something or even to pray in mind.
Jesus is watching me, with eyes full of love, so it is enough just to be by Him. Just to be. His presence fills me. Adoration is like breathing of my soul. It's lifegiving.

4. Private prayers. You need to pray everytime. Even if you feel nothing. The prayer must be just like blood circulateing in my veins. Rosary for example - every one "Hail Mery" is like one bit of the heart. Many times - prayer is like finaly resting after long very hard work. You need it to exist. Prayer is lifegiving.

5. Bible, wich gives all informations about God, we need. Bible is neccery to walk thru our life to Heaven. Full of tips. We have no other picture of Jesus today like that given us in Bible. Reading Bible is necessery to have essential knowledge about God. In Bible every one word is given by Goly Spirut - Bible deserved to meditate it, not only reading. Reading of Bible should be in fact a kind of prayer, meeting with living God, what we need to know how to life. Bible is lifegiving.

I agree with you 100%. These five pillars are essential for spiritual growth. I might point out that an easy way to hear the Word is to listen to it. I purchased the New Testament, (catholic version), on CD about four years ago, and I listen to the Bible on my commute back and forth to work. It's a real blessing.
