I'm no longer a Roman Catholic but I certainly have to admire someone, anyone in Hollywood who exhibits religious standards of behavior in their professional lives. I tip my hat to Neal McDonough, an excellent actor and principled person.
I'm proud of him too. I wouldn't ever compromise my
integrity for anyone or anything.

Not entirely sure why he took the role while knowing there would be sex scenes in it. That's atleast according to the article.

Maybe he thought he might be able to deal with the producers to get rid of such scenes.

Generally speaking, sex scenes do not add to the dramatic impact of most TV shows or movies, in my opinion. But Hollywood is convinced that sex sells, both in content and advertising.

Makes me wonder, should we [Christians] partake in secularism at all?

I read that article and the comments as well, interesting that he would not have sex [simulated] yet found no problems with other aspects of his roles over the years like murder. I applaud him for a [renewed] stance on his morality and conscience, I pray that those who are in the Body will move away from secularism. I am in way passing judgment on him, or anybody else; as I try and fight off the yeast of the Pharisees who place[d] heavy burdens on people.

Michael Medved wrote a book called "Hollywood vs America" and one of the conclusions he came to after looking at the box office revenue and TV ad revenue is that the less sex a movie and TV show has, the more it generally makes.

Obviously, part of that is because movies and shows without sex have a bigger audience because kids are included, but it also shows that people just are not the peeping toms Hollywood assumes we are.

I like and respect Michael Medved. If he's done the research, it's probably true. I think your suggestion that families are looking for movies appropriate for the whole family is probably valid. Somehow, though, Hollywood is not getting the message or refuses to believe it.

While it's great that he took a stand for his beliefs but I got say he was also wrong for taking the job in first place. You can try to dress it up all you want to but if your not willing to do an on screen kiss even then you shouldn't be taking parts that you know invovle sex scenes while it's possible to negotiate reworks there are limits.

Well, the producers should have known when he did the same thing on Boomtown and Desperate Housewives; or does Hollywood not spread rumors? Also, it was more than a fully clothed kiss. It was naked under the sheets fake sex. If there's fault to be placed here, it's with the producers. Neal McDonough has been consistent, in my opinion.

True there were sex scences but according to the article you listed he also seemed have issues with kissing which if accurate seems like it would be a huge rewrite to get it to where he be willing to play role he was hired for.

[QUOTE]"It wasn't just heated love scenes," the insider claimed. "He wouldn't do any kissing whatsoever, even though those scenes were clearly in the scripts he read before taking the role."
[/quote]

Well on that point we are going have to disagree the producers where ones who were consistent they expected Neal to do what was in the script which they gave him copies of before he agreed to do the job. In order for Neal to be consistent at least in my book he should had this worked out before shooting started talked them.
