Hi, awitch. Do you know if the Carl Barks comics can be purchased all together in a book? Amazon seems to release them one at a time. I see references to "the Carl Barks Library", but I can't find this. There are a lot of Carl Barks and Don Rosa comics that I've never read.

The Carl Barks Library seems to be a set of 30 books which contain all of Carl Barks works (and he was just one of the writers). It was only published from 1983 to 1990 so I bet it would be hard to find and very expensive.

I wasn't really a part of the comic book world, so I might recommend contacting larger comic book stores and see if they have any advice on tracking them down.

Here's part 1 of 3 of a tour of Don Rosa's studio. At the 9 minute mark he talks about some of the comics...

Thanks, that is an interesting video. When Don Rosa first began making sequels to Carl Barks comics I thought it was sacrilege. But I admire him now. :)

Rosa's quite talented, but I don't think I can forgive him for this comic from The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck.

Scrooge was treated as a historical character, and Rosa set the year of his death in '67 when Barks retired because he considered only Barks' works to be canon.

But since DuckTales was in the 80s (and they used post '67 technology), his death didn't happen. Scrooge was a treasure hunter, so let's say he found the fountain of youth and stopped aging.

(Although if you hear Alan Young do the voice of Scrooge today, he certainly sounds 30 years older).

The story to Avatar: The Last Air Bender is a bit complicated and beyond the scope of this thread, but imagine a young boy who is part Jedi and part Christ figure who is destined to save the world by stopping a century long global war and uniting the people. Aang, the Avatar in question, is rescued from an icy imprisonment by Katara, a waterbender. While he develops a crush on her right away, she takes a more motherly, protector role.

As the couple travels together with Sokka, Katara's brother, and other new-found friends, the trials and tribulations push Aang and Katara into a more romantic relationship. At one point, near the end of the series, Aang is troubled to learn that in order to control the Avatar State, which is necessary to defeat the villain, he would have to be able to let go of his love for Katara. Why must he sacrifice love for power?

Since I've often heard of love being compared to a dance:
Aang & Katara's Dance: Full Scene [HD] - YouTube

Aang and Katara would eventually marry and have three children: a non-bending son named Bumi (named after one of Aang's friends), a waterbeding daughter named Kya (named after Katara's mother), and an airbending son, Tenzin.

It's Valentine's Day and that means it's time for the finale.

Futurama was a sci-animated production from Simpsons creator Matt Groening. It took home 7 of the 17 Annie Awards and 6 of the 12 Emmy Awards it was nominated for. Philip Fry, is a good hearted, but slovenly and not-too-bright pizza delivery guy who accidentally gets cryogentically frozen on January 1, 2000 and is revived on January 1, 2999. He gets a job at a freight delivery company and meets the one-eyed captain, Turanga Leela. In the 7 seasons of the show, an emotional relationship becomes more romantic and they experience many ups and downs, too numerous to detail here.

While I typically don't like stories that include time-travel, the series finale was touching, funny, and beautiful. Fry builds the courage to propose to Leela, but due to the destruction of a device that can be used to send someone back in time 10 seconds, time becomes frozen except for the couple. We see them get married, travel the world, and grow old together all the while everyone and everything is frozen in time. In their twilight years, Professor Farnsworth shows up (the inventor of the time device who also managed to escape the time freeze) and says he can fix the device and return the universe to normal, but it would take everyone back in time to before the device was even conceived, and therefore, it would undo their happy life together with no memory of it ever happening.

Fry asks, "What do you say? Wanna go around again?" and Leela answers, "I do". They exchange a hug and kiss, there's a flash of light, and the credits roll.

While scriptures are often limited to dictating who you can and can't have sex with and how and when, here we learn that love is complicated. It's fun and painful and unpredictable and no matter how far away you might think it is, you won't escape it. Once it has you, the best you can do is hold on tight and enjoy the roller coaster.

Happy Valentine's Day
