I have the sense that for the most part your giving to the Church is relatively anonymous. Somebody records it for tax purposes but the pastor may not even know who gives what. I have felt that some other kinds of Christians keep a much closer eye on it all, and will let you know if you should be giving more. Never felt that in the Catholic Church.
Yes, I would agree with the above. With the exception of the yearly campaign from the diocese, there's really not much organized soliciting. It seems to be an "Every Catholic group for themselves" campaign, so I get mail from several Catholic charities.

There is a teaching that “one has an obligation to support the church” both through giving money and volunteering labor. But how much this was actually taught depends on the parish, since the 70’s there have been remarkably inconsistent teachings from parish to parish.
Also we never focused on the 10% tithe, that was seen as part of the Temple Law and not part of the new covenant
