James 5:
19
Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back,
20 Let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins.

One who wanders from the flock faces an inevitable multitude of sins and soul death,
unless he is turned from the error of his way. This seems worthy of dire concern.
Attentive leadership in the Body of Christ is able to address issues early.

1 John 5:
16
If anyone sees his brother sinning a sin which does not lead to death,
he will ask, and He will give him life for those who commit sin not leading
to death. There is sin leading to death. I do not say that he should pray about that.
17 All unrighteousness is sin, and there is sin not leading to death.

work or play. "Let all things be done for edification".

2 Peter 2:20 For if, after they have escaped the pollution of the world through
the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled
in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning.

Faithful shepherds will receive a reward for their stewardship
1 Peter 5:
1
The elders who are among you I exhort, I who am a fellow elder and a witness
of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that will be revealed:
2 Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as overseers, not by
compulsion but willingly, not for dishonest gain but eagerly;
3 nor as being lords over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock;
4 and when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory
that does not fade away.
