Just read the following site, and I am astonished!!

fivedoves.com/tng/magic/magicthatisjesus.htm

jesus8880.com/chapters/gematria/jesus-888-8880.htm

biblewheel.com/GR/GR_888.asp

add w3 in front of them :holy:

Even you don't believe that bible is God's words... you got to admit that the author behind is really very intelligent... to a level a genius mathematician I would say... though I know it is may be possible to invent your own words with mathematics in it, but if you want to get to the level of that of bible... you got to spend a lot of time and efforts in it... and it is quite hard to argue all those numbers are just results of randomness... you can check out the remaining articles of those sites too... very astonishing i would say...

what do you guys think? anyone got good criticism on it? any other websites with opposite view on that or mathematically demostrate that the phenomenon is easily reproducible?

NB: the above sites are not bible code or the alphabets games of ivan panin, which are largely regarded as invalid by both christians and atheist.... for the above sites, they are purely mathematics!!

:preach:

Is it completely beyond some people's abilities to disagree with others without being offended or offensive?  :sigh: :(

I think that Bible codes are an absolute waste of time for Christians and will not hesitate to say so. Sorry of this offends you.

What you think does not offend me. What you think (and others) is not necessarily offensive, its how what you think is articulated. It can be done so tactfully. :)

Given a large enough text you do thinks like this with any book. People are amazed at how perfectly things like this fit and say, “it can’t be chance!” But how many novelties are there like this in mathematics with any number?

I must say that I have my doubts abuout things like this. Not least because I don't really see any credible scientists and mathematicians coming out and attesting to the idea that there is anything special going on. The only people I see attesting to not only the reality of these phenomena but also their significance are people who have a vested interest in trying to find them.

Perhaps these things are actually real, but I doubt that they are, in fact, anything more than coincidental. Much like the Bible Code, which seems impressive until you realise that, in fact, the probability of getting certain words with such a high range of patterns to the letters is so high that eventually you will get things that look like prophecies.

Furthermore, I don't see really why God would put numerical patterns in the Bible...I mean, if you have to search through it and work it all out in detail, why is God being so secretive?

Frankly, the whole idea of biblical numerology seems to me to be compatible only with gnostic versions of Christianity, in which there is some hidden message and secret code. I can see the attraction of such ideas, if they can be verified by someone credible (for once). For a people whose tradition stems from the hellenic world with it's philosophy and mathematics through the 'enlightenment' with it's need for precision and proof, trying to accept the sacred texts of a semitic people with very different culture is hard.

Perhaps God deliberately put these things in to show us that He is indeed the all-powerful source of life that appealed to the ideas of the Greek philosophers, and that He is perfect even in mathematics and science, to prove Himself God to the people of the scientific age. But, frankly, it seems far more likely that we look for what we need and we find it...whether it's there or not.
