Today there are hundreds of thousands, if not millions of Christians who are "prepping" for an uncertain future. One poll states there are over 3 million preppers in the USA. I would suggest that the majority of these are Christians. Not "doomsday" preppers because as believers we know that there is not going to be a doomsday as such. We know Jesus is going to return, set up His glorious kingdom... and we rejoice! But we also know that as that wonderful day approaches, there will be much trouble and tribulation; both man made and natural.
I believe this forum would be positive and helpful to those believers who are in prepper mode. It would also serve to help convince other believers to begin prepping for that uncertain future.

I would say that prepping in general is a good idea.
I started in 2005 after joining the Army and learned that being more self reliant is far better than relying on our government regardless of who is in charge.

I'm a Christian prepper. I believe that if things continue on the course we're on it won't be long and we'll be living the Mad Max movies. We have an entire political party hell bent on destroying this country. I can see that. I definitely have Bibles. Not short on Bibles. I have medical supplies and survival gear. I have plenty of guns and ammo. But there are things I still need like a good easy to use water purifier. I'm also looking for a meat grinder that can pack up easy.

Now when planning out the worst case disaster scenario its not wise to go in by yourself. If you can, make friends and alliances with people whom you know you can trust with your life. Its hard to do but I have made many connections. So when things go down it is easier to survive as a group of people who all do their part to keep life going.

I feel sorry for those who think we're paranoid. Sadly, they will be the victims of America's fall. When this country falls its gonna fall hard! Mass die-offs will be the daily norm. People will be without much needed medication and its sad they will die. Crazies will be out everywhere and many people will lose all dignity just to eat food and will rob and kill others just to get the edge in survival instead of working together as good people trying to keep civilization from completely dying out.

Of course, the best way to prep is to vote Trump. Then nobody has to worry about prepping. As of right now, unless things change, I'm not throwing dice. I'm prepping and have been since Biden was elected in 2020. I knew right then and there that if things don't change for the better then this country is doomed.

My advice is to make prepping a group effort. I make connections all the time and the survival family is growing all the time. Trying to go in alone is real hard and not many survivalists can even do that for any length of time. You have hunters and gatherers, defense and soldiers, school for the youth. Everyone pulls their weight in a survival scenario.

Keep America alive by keeping yourself and the knowledge of this nation alive. I have enough knowledge in my library to jump start modern civilization if it ever collapses. The problem is how to take a library with you?? This is a problem I have not been able to work out yet. I hope by the time the country falls I'll be able to work out all the loose ends. I do believe the nation is gonna fall. I know Trump will win the 2024 election but there is also a very good chance the election might be rigged again. If that happens again the country will collapse and it will be a scary and frightening time for everyone. If we keep goiing on like this, the way things are now, all this prepping we do will not be in vain. It would be nice if it all were in vain. I could live with that. I just don't see a good outcome for this country.

Have Christians Ever Died In Calamities?

This would seem to be a odd argument to have to present. The fact that Christians have died in every sort of calamity would seem to be obvious. Yet there is an argument in the Christian community that would seem to deny this reality. From Political uprising to natural catastrophe, Christians have faired no better than any other group of humans. I will rehearse to you just a handful of events from history. I could dig up and present hundreds of like events where Christians, men women and children, have died in every sort of calamity imaginable. Let me reiterate, it is not my intention to bring fear into your heart. Perhaps a healthy amount of fear should be brought into your mind. You need to take this seriously on a logical and common sense level. You and your children could suffer greatly if you do not make common sense, logical preparations.
There are those who oppose preparing for these calamities. They will suggest that if you take steps to protect the health and welfare of your family you therefore lack faith. We have to ask these opponents of prepping if all the millions of Christians who have died in uprisings and calamity lacked faith? Do you think your faith is greater than the millions of believers who have died in every sort of natural and domestic calamity? Where are the masses of believers who testify to have been picked up out of fire and flood and saved? When the earthquake strikes killing thousands, where are the testimonies of crowds of Christians marching out of the ruins unscathed? Their houses are destroyed just like everyone else's. Are they all weak in faith? Some are killed. Are these believers without faith? Of course there are wonderful testimonies of God saving believers here and there. But when masses of humanity die in calamity, there is no evidence that all the faithful Christians are delivered.
I will contend that if they (and you) had prepared,THEY MIGHT HAVE SURVIVED!

What it is, here in America, is that we've had it real good for a long time. Christians in this country don't understand horrible events. They don't think bad things happen to Christians. Now I know God answers prayer and does protect us. I'm always afraid of tornadoes and have yet to find a large enough caliber rifle to bring one down lol. So instead of trying to break up the wind tunnel of a tornado with a large caliber gun, I now pray for a passover and that is working real good. So prayer is a very good thing. However, we still live in a sinful fallen world where bad things happen to the best of Christians. When this country falls it will be the saddest day in our history. Those who did not prepare for the event will become victims in the Mad Max movies they will be living in. Even a percentage of us who did prep will be cut short. We are headed for some very dark times unless we can get Trump back into office in 2024 and that's if we have a fair election---and that's a Big IF.

Who is the "we" in that sentence? Are you premillennialist? If so, are you a Dispensational Premillennialist?

Prepping is a good idea. We've only done prepping for a possible blizzard. We should be doing more. Right now we're a bit strapped and I'm looking for a job. But I think we can start with some rice or something.

Thanks for this encouraging thread, it's a great reminder to plan for the future.

Almost forgot that my mom is a prepper, she doesn't talk about it that much. But she owns a food dehydrator and makes her own meal packs that way.

Most preppers do not talk about it. The best prepping model, I think, is a church warehouse. They also keep it hush-hush.

My last big prep was in 1999 just prior to Y2K, if any recall that? I grew up in a farming community so it was always natural to have stores on hand that ran with growing cycles. My mom and grandmother always canned.

Wife and I still had 5 kids at home, almost all teens, and we didn't need to think about watching the children starve, had plenty of money and so it began. Rice, beans, canned meat, spices, water bladder, lights, communication devices, heating equipment, propane bottles, storage shelves. The whole enchilada. We were set.

When it was all said and done we easily had enough on hand for at least 3 1/2 years (the magic 42 month mark) for a family of 7

And THEN it was a big nothing burger, and we had all this food!!!

Kept some of the canned meat and used it. But you can only make stew so many times before you get sick of it.

Some of it went to the church food bank.

Enough went to my parents and a brother living with them at the time that they fed themselves for, I believe, almost 7 years til some of the cans started to go bad with rust.

A simple lesson learned was don't prep with what you don't eat in the normal course of life. We didn't eat much in the way of rice and beans as an everyday part of the diet.

At least none of it went to waste.

When when we sold the house 11 years later I found a one gallon glass jar of Franks Red Hot sauce that got stuck in a corner of the basement. It was still good and we used it up. Use by date notwithstanding.

Prepping since is having enough food on hand for a few months, and food we eat consistently in our normal life.

Waste not, want not

IF there was ever a time to prep, I'm feeling it now, for sure. Might get the 20 quart elec pressure cooker out, thaw out some meat and can it, just in case. Have the jars and equipment. It will still get et regardless

IF we think things will get so bad that we lose our currency or our government, prepping or hoarding precious metals might not mean very much. Better to have guns and bullets. Better yet, gold bullets so you can recover the shots and spend it when needed. Just bite off the bullet end.

Seriously though, I would probably have fed all the neighbors for a few weeks if anything ever happened. And hope they don't bump us off for our food. Prepping wouldn't be just for me and mine.

You really can amazingly make a lot of friends with free food, even in good times. More than you can imagine. It makes for a good witness. Boarding up the windows and hunkering in the dark eating white rice with salt boiled on a propane burner just doesn't seem like it would be all that great of a way to live.

People seem to think that everyone everywhere needs to get ready. This is true but usually only a small area gets hit really hard. We just saw that in Florida. The worst storm they ever had and they have lots of category five storms in Florida. I can even remember Homestead Florida where a whole town was destroyed. But everyone is vulnerable to some degree. I think we should all be prepared to go off of the grid. Esp when it comes to power because that is very vulnerable.

Terrorist attacks on power grids are a real concern. There have been instances where extremists have targeted power infrastructure to cause widespread disruption. For example, in the U.S., there have been multiple attacks and suspicious activities at power stations12. These incidents highlight the vulnerabilities of our electricity infrastructure and the need for robust security measures.

Of course if you are feeding seven teenagers $20 for one meal would be good. When my son is on the road his company gives just him $60 a day for food. He does not even have to turn in receipts like he does for car rental, a hotel room and stuff like that.

IF I really wanted long term storage/survival food I'd go with Pemmican, an approx. 50/50 mix of dried and finely diced beef and beef fat. It's claimed to last 20 years. You can sustain one person on 3/4 lb a day. A full on working day, 1.5 lbs. IF made with grass fed beef the orangeish color in the fat is carotene, so there's actually a veggie component.

Life can turn cruel very quickly without food. 3 days would turn most people into desperate maniacs. I hope not to see such a thing on a large scale. Came close enough to starving a few times early in my life to learn to stay buckled down and focused.

If millions of people were suffering and dying, Christians were right in there with them, suffering and dying with the rest. There is no evidence from history that you will somehow escape simply because you are a Christian.

Your 20 reasons for preparing for hard times are well-taken. What makes the times hard sometimes has natural causes, but usually it is because of a deterioration of social structure, leading to famine, disease, pestilence, etc. History shows what previous Christians and others did under these circumstances in which three basic alternative actions could be taken:

1. restore civilization - this is what the spread of the gospel is intended to accomplish, though often it has been attempted through violent overthrow of the existing rulers. This latter option was not effected by first-century Christians. The strategy of Jesus's kingdom belonged to a different age.
2. hunker down - go underground, which is what some of the Christians in Rome literally did, though most of them chose to
3. leave - emigrate, which in the 1st century led to the evangelization of the barbarians (barbed, or bearded, Aryans) north of Rome.

The dissidents in the Soviet Union faced the same three alternatives as do American Christians of today. In facing these alternatives, I chose to leave. # 2 is also a possibility for American Christians, though invasive technology - cameras and satellites everywhere - make this less and less practical. Where to go? Belize is one option.

For those who stay or anticipate leaving, the most important preparation is one of outlook, in seeing your identity with the kingdom of Christ. Make an inventory list of all the ways you interact with the world and analyze each one. Some are hard to give up quickly, such as participating in the largest monetary fraud - fiat money - in human history.
