The Lord loves a cheerful giver.
The Lord loves the poor.
As if "the poor are always with us" is an excuse for apathy--instead of a call to action.
Nice strawman, also you should quote people next time so they get the notification.

A call to action would involve you going and taking care of the poor yourself instead of advocating for socialistic policies which take from those who don’t want to give, or even worse, those who already give and are now forced to give up more.

Does the Lord love Thieves?

This moral preening, that because you support unlimited spending on the basis of taxing productive people therefore you're embodying Christianity, is tiring.

Does the Lord love the workers of iniquity? What does He do with them?

Basic virtue is still needed in all sorts of roles of responsibility
So then you would not select the "best mechanic" if it turns out that mechanic had some "mean worded tweets"??

Or do you not ask those sorts of questions when looking for the best result?
, whether one is a pastor or president.

Well I for one do not interview the mechanics, the plumbers, the brain surgeon, the one doing a thyroidectomy (in the case of a relative recently), the Calculus teacher - for their "pastoral qualifications" before selecting the best one.

To each his own of course.

That's a poor analogy (a president isn't like an auto mechanic), but I probably wouldn't in that specific case, as I consider mean and cruel people to be undesirable to associate with. A president functions as our nation's chief diplomat and representative, so it's important that he or she be a person of integrity, to say the least.

I think it's a mischaracterization of that scripture to call it a call to action. Jesus uses it in response to criticism from Judas that the alabaster the woman is using to honor Jesus should have been sold to give to the poor. He's certainly not saying to ignore the poor, but I think saying it's a call to action to care for the poor was not the point of that particular scripture. I'd say it's more of a call to rejoice in the Lord.
