  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is misandry even justified as a response to misogyny?

A lot of popular female music artists like Taylor Swift, Alanis Morrisette, etc.

Is misandry even justified as a response to misogyny?

Growing men's movement, you mean in response to the social programming of stupid dads and men in advertising and sitcoms, "feminist rage" anthems like "ex-boyfriends are blockheads", and miseducation that was steadily escalating over the last 50 years? And women having the political right to...

Is misandry even justified as a response to misogyny?

Pointing out misandry and misandric tropes is not misogyny.

    Is lying ever alright?

I don't recall a part in the Bible where tactical lying is okay. I know that this is a Christian board, but even in Islam, Muslims are explicitly permitted to lie to gain tactical advantage.

Is misandry even justified as a response to misogyny?

I see that this is apparently a mindset that exists today that misandry (which is contempt for men, either an attitude, policy or "all men suck" rage) is seen as justified or at least understandable because of mistreatment of women in the past and that still perceived to happen today. When men...

The Fall of the West (It's Happening Now)

Because there are innocent people within those places that have to shoulder the burden just because everybody else surrounding them has turned away from God. It's always the innocent little guy that gets disadvantaged while the spiritual world battle between good and evil is waged. It's just...

The Fall of the West (It's Happening Now)

What is the "self-authoritarianism" you mean? The Bible has rules and commandments, and Jesus himself says that any mild deviation is lukewarm and therefore, they are not saved at all and might as well have committed the original sin. How are the implications of this not spiritual authoritarianism?

At least natural disasters are honest. Nature doesn't discriminate among specific targets, unlike man.

Why religion cannot make its mind up about nudity

Apparently sexual desire itself is a sin according to Christians.

Worried about being a Christian in England

I would be interested about ideas of people becoming open to Christianity again. It's true that everywhere there is a trend of hostility to Christianity, especially in the West. Sadly, the book specifically says this is inevitable and seems to be predestined. But prayers to the UK and...

    The "God's Plan" Illusion

I can relate to it. If God is real and if the Bible is reasonably accurate (or if it's how most evangelical Christians interpret it) and we do live in a fallen world, that is horrible and brings debilitating existential angst. Doesn't God ultimately want humanity to join him and let people enjoy...

    The "God's Plan" Illusion

The answer to a lot of things can come down to "You didn't create the world and it's physics, God did" or "Our ways are not God's ways" which I find nonsensical/frustrating and unsatisfying. It makes God look untouchable and faceless.

"Satan is the God of this world" and free will

We are all sinners and slaves to sin. Yeah. But on the flip side of it we can say that to be with the Lord is to be a slave to him, too. I heard people actually use the language sometimes.

"Satan is the God of this world" and free will

We are supposed to have free will and God is in control and has a "plan" for people. But Corinthians (I think) also says that Satan is the "God of this world" and thus controls the airwaves and all human institutions. But this is one of the incongruencies that I can't accept well. Why would or...
