What this Biden rule did was marginalize Chinese imports of AI chips, and favor chips from Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Republic of Korea, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, and the United Kingdom. What does Trump do? I can't remember if the Trump tariffs are on, or off, or if the Chinese exemptions are on or are they off? It's frankly hard to keep track when policy is like sticking a wet finger in the wind to learn which way it blows. It's kind of hard not to think this is all about Trump aggrandizing his narcissistic inner self now with both policy makers and business having to come grovel to him for relief like the opening scene of The Godfather.

My only two encounters with the MS OS world:

In the late 80s the math "department" got about 10 DOS-based computers we used in trig for some excercises and then my last year for my independent study programming class (in Pascal).

In grad school, I disassembled my linux workstation for an upgrade and had to use the Windows95 lab in the building to use a web browser for a week while I waited for a part. (I had a functioning computer at home and I used a vt100 terminal to read my /usr/bin/mail.")

idk... I bounce between Windows and MacOS pretty regularly and it doesn't take either one very long to get me pining for the other.

No. The AUMF has been a blank check since 9/11. Legislation can't even get passed to claw it back.

Biden's IRA would have achieved this without alienating allies. But Trump's tariffs WILL do the same thing because finally America has a President with a backbone! Huge tariffs on Chinese computing will FORCE American firms to build them domestically - because we just KNOW he's not going to buckle!

Every personal computer I have owned for the last 35+ years was made by Apple (except for that Mac clone I ran linux on in grad school).
