A lot of people aren't worried about the stock market. Even though a high percentage (I think about 60%) have stock in retirement accounts, most stock owners are wealthy and may not be the typical Trump voter.

The wealthiest 10% of Americans own about 93% of stocks, even as market participation reaches a record high.
This concentration of stock ownership highlights the significant wealth inequality in the U.S., where the richest 1% alone owns 54% of public equity markets, up from 40% in 2002.
There is a problem with this reasoning. Just because the wealthiest 10% own 93% of the stocks does not mean that there are not millions and millions of non-wealthy people who holds stocks.

You have done nothing to defend your claim that most stock owners are wealthy. All you have shown is that the very wealthy own almost all the stock. Not the same thing.

I get why the "are you happy now?" question is being asked. However, it is not surprising that people will redefine happiness, or engage in all sorts of other mental gymnastics, to avoid having to face the brute fact that they made a dreadful mistake in voting for Mr Trump. Humans have an amazing capacity for rationalization and will do almost anything to justify retaining a position even in the presence of overwhelming evidence against it.

The real question, of course, is what does the evidence suggest about the presidency of Mr Trump. In short, it has been a disaster. The economy is being wrecked, allies alienated and threatened, and incompetent boobs assigned to high level positions.

What a dumpster fire.

I completely understand why Trump hating liberals are unhappy, but I don't understand why they are bothered that conservatives are not as upset as they are. Is this one of those "misery loves company" things?

It's concerning that so may of them--now that they find out that Trump's agenda will hurt them as much as it hurts liberals seem so willing to bear that hurt so long as it also hurts liberals. It's just a little bit creepy.

I don't see conservative bearing the hurt because it hurts liberals. What I do see are conservatives seeing Trump doing exactly what he promised on his campaign trail and understand that the hurt is temporary and is necessary for a greater purpose.

Hi, Trump hating liberal here. Idk what you’re talking about and I can’t speak for anyone else but this has been one of the best weeks to be a Democrat since Nov 2020.

Are you sure it’s us you’re trying to convince here?

Where was this mentality in 2020?

Which is to hurt liberals.

Considering a Trump hating liberal started this thread, I am positive that isn't the case.
Like I said, I’m only speaking for myself. This has been a great couple weeks with this new administration. There’s definitely been a vibe shift since the inauguration. Not sure if anyone else has noticed.

Sounds like you may have infiltrated one of our secret conservative meetings in which we plot and scheme about new and creative ways to stick it to the liberals. What else did you hear?

I agree. It's been a great couple of months in my opinion, and it is only going to get better. If only Trump can get a third term.

The latest strategy is just to let them speak.

I've been hearing "Own the Libs" since 2016. But I can see it with my own eyes. Just for example: because I do some overseas development work I know people who worked for USAID. Their work was branded as criminal by the President, they and their families were herded at short notice onto military planes with nothing but the clothes on their backs and dumped at Dulles with no job, no money and no home. What was their crime? Being liberal.
