The occurrence of Glacial Lake Outburst Floods (GLOFs) at the time of Noah, or the early Holocene period, is a possibility. The melting of glaciers and the formation of temporary natural dams could have led to significant flooding events. These GLOFs might have inspired ancient flood myths, including the story of Noah's Flood.

The combination of postglacial sea-level rise and sudden catastrophic floods due to natural dam failures would have created dramatic and potentially devastating events for early human communities, influencing their oral traditions and stories.

There was worldwide flooding from the melting of glaciers. In the area where I live, the Great Lakes, the ice was one mile thick. We have a valley here that, like the Grand Canyon, was created from the water that flooded the area when the ice melted. Although science tends to support gradualism and not catastrophic events, they shoot themselves in the foot because when catastrophic events occur, they are not prepared to deal with them.

The melting glaciers created large lakes and rivers, carving out valleys and depositing sediments that shaped the region's topography

The ice is still melting and places like Flordia are still flooding. Miami changed the building code to 3 feet higher.

Noah's flood effected the whole world and was more then just a local flood.

That is not true. Read the account again and you will find that the waters only covered the earth. The waters did not cover the ocean surrounding the earth. Only the living creatures living on the earth died, nothing in the ocean died.

The relationship between science and the biblical account of Noah's Flood can be seen from various perspectives, and many people find ways to reconcile the two.

It makes sense that if there was a global type flood event that it happened within the last say 20,000 years as this is the period where humans were conscious enough to understand concepts of God. We see that in the artifacts and burials becoming more sophisticated.

In fact it seems humans more or less suddenly became God conscious around 12 to 14,000 years ago and belief became quite sophisticated. Everything was about the gods and animal and nature spirits and looking upwards at the gods in the sky.

This also happened to be coincidently around the time of the Younger Dryas event that happened towards the end of the last iceage. It was during this time that we see a spike in temperature and the melting of ice, flooding and chaos including the extinction of most Megafauna. Which also meant mass human deaths.

Some say perhaps a comet hit or rather an air pulse or seveal air pulses around the northern hemisphere occurred as a comet broke up and entered the atmosphere. But something caused the ice to melt fairly quickly. Perhaps a number of floods that grew into a massive area being covered.

There is evidence for air burst and massive flooding around North America, Greenland, even northern Syria and into Europe and Russia. If ever there was a real flood that happened when humans were able to understand that the flood was from the gods or God it was during this time.

The people at this time would have witnessed a massive worldwide disaster at least from their part of the world which was more or less the whole world at that time.

The interesting thing is ancient cultures like Gobekli Tepe and other sites around the world we are finding glyphs that may be mentioning a catastrophe around that time. So it may be that this is where the flood myths stem from.

We are finding more preflood cultures deep in the earth and under the water. It seems that perhaps there was a fairly advanced preflood world that defied God with pagan beliefs and a disaster of great proportion came upon the earth causing at least for people to believe it was from God.

We know that most cultures have stories about a flood coming and wiping out humankind and then a person or group of people usually wise and with great knowledge come to help re-start humankind again.

We can speculate about the details but in the end, the bible account says global flood, and whatever evidence we have of the before and after was mainly washed away by it and its aftermath or is embedded in the geological layers formed by it.

I agree, all nations have their own report of this happening so yes it was global as stated in scripture, ALL.

Luke 17:27

They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.

the bible account says global flood
The King James version says: HIGH HILLS not mountains. We do find fossils at the top of mountains but that goes back before Noah's literal flood 4,300 years ago. The modern term for this is paradigm. We use to say shadows and types.

High Hills vs. Mountains:

  • Translation Nuances: The KJV, translated in 1611, uses "high hills," whereas other translations might use "mountains." The Hebrew word "הָרִים" (harim) can mean both "hills" and "mountains," depending on the context.
  • Interpretation: The phrase emphasizes the extensive nature of the flood, covering even the highest geographical points known at the time.

Fossils on Mountains:

  • Scientific Perspective: The discovery of marine fossils on mountaintops is often attributed to the movement of tectonic plates and the uplifting of ancient seabeds over millions of years.
  • Biblical Perspective: Some interpret these findings as evidence of a global flood, while others see it as part of the geological history that predates the flood.

Paradigm and Shadows and Types:

  • Paradigm: This term refers to a model or pattern, often used to describe overarching themes or frameworks of understanding within a particular context.
  • Shadows and Types: In theological terms, "shadows" and "types" refer to symbols or prefigurations in the Old Testament that foreshadow events or figures in the New Testament.

The evidence is underwater. WE do have underwater drone cameras, so we are going to be able to get better photos of what is currently under water. The Euphrates river is staring to expose a lot of ancient sites also.

No one ever talks about what sort of house Adam and Eve lived in. But we know it was a real house and not a tent. Most likely made from stone.

The problem I see is that we know for a fact that massive floods happened around 12 to 14,000 years ago. We have the evidence in the geological records from around the areas where the ice melted.

So is this from Noah's flood or another flood. If Noah's flood happened before this when humans were religiously illiterate then they could not have expressed this as a flood myth. It had to have happened during the time we know humans were thinking and believing in gods which is around 12 to 14,000 years ago by the glyphs left and the stories from those cultures that speak of the flood around that time.

So is Noahs flood the floods of the Younger Dryas or is there another flood. Did that second flood trump the massive floods of the Younger Dryas which already had stories about the floods of the Younger Dryas. They would have to be the same floods.

"For behold, I will bring a flood of waters upon the earth to destroy all flesh in which is the breath of life under heaven. Everything that is on the earth shall die"

God said he did it.
He's the Ultimate authority, all powerful and has literally no reason to lie and for that matter we know He cannot lie at all so when he says he was going to flood the earth he meant it and we know he literally did just that.

We may differ in our definition of what a fact is. Could your evidence pass the courtroom test with enough weight to get a conviction?
It depends what your trying to prove. As for a global catastrophe at the end of the last iceage where there was massive flooding due to a spike in temperature and where most of the mega fauna were wiped out yes. We have scientific evidence now beyond doubt.

The fact is probably the evidence your using for Noahs flood is from the floods at the end of the last iceage. We can find the routes of these floods tracing back to the northern hemisphere ice glaciers. Like Lake Agassiz and the Missoula Floods which created the Channeled Scablands.

We can find similar massive flooding across the northern hemisphere at least of the same magnitude around Russia, Turkey and into Europe such as the flooding of the Black and Capsian seas rapidly and as high as 160 feet.

It was around this time that ocean levels were lower and there were many land bridges compared to today. What we see now with say the great Lakes area in north America is a result of these floods as there were no lakes in that area.

So is this from Noah's flood or another flood.
There is a best-selling book called Paradigm. They used to call this shadow and types. The Bible is literal yet at the same time can have up to 100 layers of meaning. Jesus used to teach in parables. Allegorical: Some scriptures have deeper, symbolic meanings that go beyond the literal sense.

Noah's flood is a type of every flood that ever was and the Bible is written that way.

I think this is insightful. I agree and I think this is how God reveals Himself through the ancient stories and myths. Except myths are based on a truth that is embellished. God uses real events yet at the same time they seem to be timed or revealed at a point where we are able to understand these events are related to God or the gods with a certain message.

So for the people around the time of the floods they were already looking to the skies and everything was related to God. The story of Noah would not have been created unless humans had come to a consciousness that the flood was from God and had a lesson within it for humankind. That story began before Noah but was articulated by Moses as God inspired.

To me it makes sense that the floods during the Younger Dryas around 14,000 years ago which covered much of what would have been the world around the middle East and northern hemisphere. In fact it would have risen the waters all over the planet to varying degrees. Its the only major flood in our recent history.

The point is most cultures who have these flood stories are not Jewish. But they still have a story of a real flood event in their history and its been passed down. So either they each had a seperate global type flood event which seems unreal or despite the different timings they are all speaking about the same flood.

God then used that real flood event in our history to reveal to us how humankind had become sinful and that a man named Noah would come to restart humanity to prepare the way for the messiah line. Most cultures speak of a wiseman that came to restart humankind. This wiseman was fullfilled in Noah. Thats how God works. He uses already human created stories and makes them His own.

Its interesting that Abraham came out of Mesopotamia where the Gilgamesh flood legend comes. Mesopotamia is suppose to be the birthlace of civilisation. But then it seems the real flood event happened well before. So they would have also heard the story passed down.

It was the same for the monotheistic God of Abraham. Its not as if ancient people did not know the concept of a god. They looked to the skies and thought of gods. It came naturally because it was already in their consciousness. But Abraham came along and fullfilled the one true Gods message to us and defined Himself as the God people were looking for.

God uses real events and the natural stories and beliefs humans formed and then said hey all those flood stories, all those gods, here I am. This is who you are looking for. These stories are fullfilled in me.

But that could not have happened if humans were not already made god conscious in preparation for Gods revealation. So it was with Noahs flood. The preparation of the idea of a flood disaster being related to the gods setup for God to reveal Himself through Moses as the fullfillment. Without that preparation it would not have made sense or had the same message it has.

My argument is how could God flood a sphere ?
