'A Trump spokesman said it was “absurd” to interpret the post as a threat or call for violence, suggesting the reference to a death wish was “political” rather than literal.'

I'm sure this is correct... just liberal mania.

You seemed to have missed the point....he sues for defamation while defaming wives of this political opponents. No one, can be surprised of course. Ask Ted Cruz.

If Trump had said, for example, I need to get help and seek advice from my Yugoslavian wife, would anything be said (in regard to nationalism)... more China mania, no doubt. I cannot find a definite or intended meaning for Coco Chow; Trump can defend his meaning. I hope it's not offensive beyond a doubt, but otherwise, he has a long list of political nicknames he has given, and she is a politician... and at odds with him.

Just curious, is that the same judge appointed by Clinton?
Is the implication that judges appointed by particular presidents are inherently biased? If so, why in the world would Donald try to use inherently biased courts to in this current lawsuit?

This is how wealthy elites behave, frivolous lawsuits.
For the wealthy elites it gives them cheap publicity, and for Trump another reason to justify grifting.
It also helps to embolden his supporters and get them riled up about an "unjust" system, when Trump again fails in the courts.

This lawsuit of Trump's is nothing like the Dominion Systems lawsuit.
Fox News etc were blaming Dominion voting machines of being corrupt without any evidence what so ever.
CNN reference the 60 failed court cases and the lack of evidence provided by anyone supporting the Big Lie.

It's childish and not befitting of grace or dignity. An adult slinging insults and derogatory nicknames is an adult that is disrespects themselves by acting like a spoilt and rotten child.

The term for it is "accusation in a mirror".

Trump has demonstrated China mania throughout his White House years. He did not say the equivalent "seek advice from [your] Chinese wife"; he said "China loving wife" then made fun of her name.

I cannot find a definite or intended meaning for Coco Chow; Trump can defend his meaning. I hope it's not offensive beyond a doubt, but otherwise, he has a long list of political nicknames he has given, and she is a politician... and at odds with him.
How can he defend his meaning? Deny it as you will, it is pretty clearly meant as an insult.

Do you mean disrespectful like Hillary calling Trump supporters 'deplorables' and Biden calling MAGA republicans a threat to American democracy?

I don't get it... these politicians choose to get in the ring with Trump and then want 'him' to pull his punches.

Maybe he didn't have a choice.

He did. He didn't need to submit the suit. (At least theoretically, perhaps his compulsions to play the victim get the better of him and there is no free will.)

The CNN suit that sparked this thread is whiney junk from third tier lawyers. It will go absolutely nowhere. It will only cost him (or his campaign backers) money and gain him nothing.

The "actual malice" standard for defaming public figures is quite a barrier to cross and political opinion (which is the bulk of the items complained about) is the most protected of all speech.

Well, apparently the probes against him were uncalled for as well.

Trump sues CNN claiming defamation, seeks $475 million in punitive damages

With the Dominion defamation lawsuits against Fox and others, it's only fair that Trump gets back at CNN for all those awful, awful stories tearing down his good name. A $475 million lawsuit should make those CNN pundits think twice before making such wild allegations. All Donald has to do is demonstrate how much he has been harmed by the allegations, and that the allegations are false.

Um... Donald might have a bit of a problem with that last part... Well, I'm sure his elite lawyers will come up with overwhelming arguments, right?

like him being a Russian asset? How many years and how many millions in tax payer money wasted for the democrats desperate to maintain power? The bidens have more business with China and Russia than the Trumps ever have and the FBI is turning a blind eye to it. The FBI and the democrats are completely compromised.

All those liberal journalist, everyday, said Trump was guilty. They must pay up.

You don't get why a politician, a president, should not be a raging jerk?

How much business do the Bidens - I am assuming Joe, Dr. Biden and Hunter - have with China and Russia? How much business do the Trumps - Don Sr., Don Jr., Ivanka, Eric and Melania - have?

Only if they actually lied, which Donald John would have to prove.

On CNN? I was watching CNN, and I don't remember any of the CNN crew saying that Trump was guilty of collusion with the Russians. They certainly were investigating the possibility of collusion excessively, so I can imagine how you came to that conclusion. But hey, maybe I missed something, and you can provide a video example, considering you say that it was happening every day.

Well, apparently none of the charges against him should have been submitted either... Maybe he just wanted to hit back.

Trump hasn't been hit with any "charges". He's never be charged with a crime (certainly not this millenium). Even if he had been charged with a crime by the DOJ (or the NY AG) it has *nothing* to do with his suit against CNN.

I remember the journalists stating that Trump's 2016 campaign were under investigation, firstly by FBI, then by the Special Counsel.
I can't remember any of them saying that the case had gone through the courts and that Trump was found guilty.
Do you have any references?

CNN & MS-NBC have been deceving their viewers for years.

For example, they already knew the Russia collusion report (Dossier) was false as early as 2017.

Even famous Watergate journalist Bob Woodward told CNN it was garbage; and he hates Trump.

MS-NBC's Chris Matthews also reported that Hillary Clinton PAID for the Russia collusion Dossier:

The media knew all this, but kept on defaming Trump as a Russian spy. Biggest hoax in journalism history.
