If you turn from your sins and repent of it, He will. But if you continue repeating the same sin and asking for forgiveness afterwards, it might seem like you're mocking Him. When you ask God for forgiveness, try to keep yourself from committing the same sin afterwards, it shows that your intension to repent from it is sincere

Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, "Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?"

Jesus answered, "I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times. -
- Matthew 18

Then Jesus went directly into the Parable of the Unforgiving Steward, in which He told of a steward who was forgiven of a massive, unpayable debt by his employer, but then refused to forgive the petty debt owed to him by a lesser employee.

The employer heard about that and punished the steward for not displaying the same forgiveness that had been given to him.

Jesus then did something that He otherwise never did: He immediately explained the meaning of the parable to make sure nobody missed it:

"This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother or sister from your heart."

So, now, seeing how serious God is about the matter of forgiveness, and seeing that the Lord has commanded us to give a boundless number of times...

...where in there is a condition that all those times must be for different sins?

Love... keeps no record of wrongs. -- 1 Corinthians 13

What if you want to stop that sin but are having a hard time and continue doing it is that considered mocking?

"Therefore confess your sins to one another and pray for each other so that you can be healed. The prayers of a righteous person is very effective" James 5:16

Look for a more mature Christian and share your problem with him/her, ask him to pray for you. God bless

God knows your heart. He knows how difficult it is. Never give in. Every time you fall, no matter how many times, get right back up and return to the open arms of God.

He loves YOU my friend. We are all weak. Be strong in knowing that Our Father loves US and has a merciful heart.

Do your very best not to sin. If you do, God is there for you.

God bless you

i currently am trying to stop a few sins but am wondering will god forgive me for a sin that i do multiple times?

You are forgiven when you Repent of your sins... Repentance happens after the last time you commit sin....... Therefore no reason to inquire about forgiveness while continuing in sin...

Jags, I agree with Raymond here. Forgiveness happens after you repent. Repenting means not doing it again. If you are continuing to do it, then you have not repented, and thus there is no forgiveness.

Repent. Turn away from your sin.

That's what "repent" means. That is the definition of the word. Repent, means specifically to turn away from the sin. If you quit sinning, then you have repented. if you don't quit sinning, then you have not repented. It is not possible to continue to sin and repent of it.

It's like asking "Can I keep eating donuts and cake every day and diet?" No.... by definition, to diet means to not eat things that make you fat. You have to quit eating fatty foods, to diet.

If you want to "repent", you must turn away from the sin. That is what "repent" means.

The point to note is "[you are trying] to stop a few sins". The bible tells us that if our brother sins against use 7 times a day and returns to us saying sorry I want to change. We are to forgive them. That is God's kind of forgiveness.

The reality is we should not "try to sin" ... "but if we do sin [while trying to do what is right], we have an advocate with the Father Jesus the righteous". Your focus is right, just keep moving forward, towards God, there is no need to withdraw from Him in fear of your sin.

What we are trying to tell you, is that if you do it again.... then you didn't repent the last time. You can't 'repent each time'. That's not thing.

If you murder someone, and you "repent"... that means you don't murder anyone ever again. If you murder someone again... you didn't repent.

Jags, what Andrew is saying is, repentance can only truly happen when we reach a point of not sinning again. Now I know from my personal experience how difficult this can be, as when a person sins repeatedly it is possible to become a 'slave' to sin, and you need to be set free by Jesus, who died for us in order to forgive us of all sin. I would suggest you speak to an elder at your church about this and ask them to pray over you for freedom from sin. If this is done in faith you will not sin again, and your repentance will come to pass.

If you claimed that you did not sin then I would be concerned. If you do sin then confess that sin to Jesus Christ; because Jesus is all about forgiving us. That is why He died on the cross to atone for our sins.

There is not a person alive who does not sin.

Thank you for being honest about your sin.

People make it sound overcomplex.

The easier answer is after you sin, you pray for forgiveness. He forgives it and its forgotten. HOWEVER... if you sin on purpose because you can just "pray it away" later, it will not be forgiven. Because you are abusing His grace that point.

For example I have had an addiction with porn. For a long time I never really prayed for forgiveness. I didn't care. Then after awhile I felt terrible so I realized I needed help and change. BUT sadly I would pray for forgiveness while also thinking what porn I wanted to look at later. So I using praying as an excuse. "I'll look at porn and pray for gives after and I'll be all set!". I wasn't serious about praying.

Then eventually I felt even worse (among other sinful things I was doing). I realized I was just a liar and I wasn't fulling God. People told me I had to TRULY mean I was sorry and TRULY try my best to not screw up. And to also TRULY mean I wouldn't screw up again. So that helped me alot. He had given me power to fight the addiction. I turned away so many times when the urge came.

When I would give in, I felt VERY bad and cried. I cried to the Lord "Please God forgive me! I am so weak! I don't want this addiction. Help me break the chains Lord!". And sure enough I felt better after the prayer. It actually felt like God realized it was coming from my heart. And its how its been since then. Am I saying once you pray you will be 100% free from whatever you are doing? No.

For some they can stop instantly. For others they may suffer their whole life with the sin. Again, they are not seeking to do the sin. They usually are in a moment of weakness and give in. Which devastates them after. Because if you don't feel the urge to get on your knees and cry to Him, then you may not really have it in your heart to change.

The bible tells us:

Jud 1:22-23 And have mercy on those who doubt; save others by snatching them out of the fire; to others show mercy with fear, hating even the garment stained by the flesh.

There are two types of people, those who want to sin, and just don't care. Those should be "saved by snatching them form the fire", for they are in danger of hell fire. Then there are those who waver, doubt, and worry about their sins. That group should be directed with mercy towards repentance.

It is true that repentance is leaving your sin behind, but the attitude a person holds to their sin determines how God would have us respond. I believe that you are the former group, who should be shown mercy. I don't believe God is heavy handed on you, but he would still draw you away from your sins. Repentance is not just saying sorry, it is attempting to move away from a sin.

However that said their are small sins that a Christian may fall into out of fleshly human weakness, that can make you feel guilty, but these should not separate you from God. Then there are rebellious, willful sins, that are in defiance of the creator, these will cause you to move outside God's grace. But the key to it all is seeking God's Kingdom first. The bible tells us "seek first the kingdom of God an all these other things will be added to you". When we put God first he meets our needs. The start of that journey is to pray to God regularly, to seek His will, and His purposes. Furthermore theh bible tells us "Pray that you enter not into temptation", As we pray God's Spirit strengthens us, it makes us aware of his will, but also gives us inner unseen power to defeat sin.

He gives us so many "2nd" chances. However, He is always working to free us from all sin. Forgiveness comes with repentance.

It's like saying "will God forgive me for burning my hand over and over again"
Sure...
But after a while, maybe the better question might be - can God grow me a new hand?
