Proverbs 6
Everyone read Chapter 6 if it is the 6th day of the month today. Come back and give us your thoughts....Tishri1

with the latter half of this chapter speaking of adultery..Apart from the very obvious warning and the hurt and pain such actions bring into entire families .
it Also got me to thinking about how cautious we must be in our hearts in respect to our relationship with the lord Jesus and our relationship with the world around us .and how we must be so careful not to .."go in unto another" but be single minded and hearted in or faith in the lord .especially when the world calls to us and presents what seems to be an easier way

16 There are six things ADONAI hates, seven which he detests:
17 a haughty look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood,
18 a heart that plots wicked schemes, feet swift in running to do evil,
19 a false witness who lies with every breath, and him who sows strife among brothers.
Bless You for starting off this very important chapter.

I love this last line as that's my personal goal for this website to prevent this and if possible eradicate it :) I mean its the 7th that he detests!.

Hi,

Dear, and I hope I can here use that term with you, and you sure feel like you deserve to be treated that nicely and more; later in Proverbs, or Psalms or someplace, we will be told the following things:

-How to handle those of rough speech
-The reason people speak roughly

Biblically rough speech is done by the arrogant, it is stated that it is from bad parents, and it is stated that it is not fixable.

That dashes your hopes of mine of correcting them, However it is also stated how to handle them and the rule is don't engage them, as you will only be hurt by them. Yes, I think that is in Proverbs.

With that knowledge, from Proverbs, we can all handle Trolls correctly. We don't try and cure them, we don't engage them.

I would love to not say that to you, but know this. Your asking for us to do Proverbs again, has remined me only today maybe, how to handle them. I had forgotten.

And, oh by the way, using the Blessing of God on us in Genesis, to subdue the earth, the mental scientists have studied that group, and they say they are not fixable. Supposedly it is brain damage, either missing or damaged or not functioning

Their primary technical disignator is misleading, it is called Personality Disorder, but what it means is anyone who has no remorse.

There used to be roughly 6 conditions that those fell under, but in two levels of severity, thus they called the number 12, even though there were only 6 types.

Their names for these are things like Narcissist, and five others each separtated by what goals they have outside of their primary goal, to enslave at least on person to themselves using strategy.

LOVE,
...Mary., .... .

him who sows strife among brothers.

'tis a tough one alright ..
to one, they may consider words to be correcting another .. to the other ,he may perceive to be stirring strife .

i think (though its only imo ) it speaks of when there is already peace in a group and some one raises a contention that simply is not required . and it results in strife "within that group" and the person who raised it then departs carrying (or thinking they carry )no responsibility for what they just did ..

yet the word says we are all to be held accountable to every word ...

Trish i think you have caused me to begin this day to redefine and self investigate my every post going forward -.. OUch! .. but that's a good ouch lol

Shalom - I have recently come to the realization that the whole Word of God is still Truth (Psalms 119:142), and it is still the Way of/to Life (Proverbs 12:28; Deuteronomy 5:33). (Genesis 40:8) The meaning of things are determined by the author and perfecter of our faith YAHWEH. The Word of YAHWEH our God applies to us physically and spiritually since He is both physical and spiritual, and so are we (Genesis 1:26).

(Psalms 78:1-2; Proverbs 1:6)

Yeshua our Messiah (Jesus Christ) is the Word of God (John 1:1; John 1:14) and God doesn't change (Malachi 3:6).

Chapter 6 of Proverb is a warning against false teachers teaching false ways which lead to adultery (Ezekiel 23:37; Romans 2:22). This chapter also tells us what this we are to hold on to in order to remain faithful.

Consider (Proverbs 6:20-23). Now apply the interpretation of the lamp and the light to the parable of the ten virgins (Matthew 25:1-12). We know that the purpose of the oil is to keep the lamp burning (Leviticus 24:2). Could the oil have something to do with have the desire to keep the Light. It is needed for fuel. God commanded oil to be brought. If we want to be wise (Psalms 119:98; Proverbs 8:33). It is a foolish thing to disobey our Father (Proverbs 1:7)

It seems (this is just my thought and I'm just a man) that in the bible bread in general is words either written or spoken.

Now we know that leaven symbolizes teaching (some leaven is good and some is bad (Matthew 16:12), and Yeshua, the Word of God, is the Bread of Life (John 6:36).

Sometimes we should eat unleavened bread.

We are to feed the hungry.

Peace and blessings to you

Wow, what a chapter! 5 things to learn from.

1. Financial Entanglements / fighting with your Neighbor

2. The Fight Against the Slothful!
3. Maliousy
4. 7 Things the Lord Hates
5. The Warning Against Adultery

I'll admit, it's easy to become the sloth on my days off work when I should be cleaning up my space in the house! (Live with a roommate)

Personal Goal: clean my mess in parts of the house on my days off.

And above all, instead of just concentrating on one sin, but to remember He hates those 7. This is why repentance is so very important!

These are some powerful verses in chapter 6, verses 16-19...

whoa! it says that God hates these things:

16 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

I am always wondering what motivates us humans to act in these manners. What is the gain? When all we need and want is bestowed on us by God, what do we hope to benefit from acting like this?

verse 1. Son if you endorse a note for someone you hardly know, guaranteeing his debt, you are in serious trouble....

I understand verse one is a warning not against generosity, 'but against overextending ones financial resources' (living bible notes) Such a good point to make and so easy for a young person to fall into this trap, perhaps wanting to help someone out of a difficult circumstance.
This book of Proverbs should be compulsory reading in all homes; I wish I had told my children when they were young.

That actually can happen with someone you know too, and they promise to pay you back and then don't. :s

My friend's elderly parents were scammed last week out of 7,000 dollars....it was someone pretending to be a grandchild of theirs best friend who said the grandchild was in Jail in Mexico and needed money to get back home but said they didn't want their parents to know........soooooooo sad for them.

Being more efficient with my time is a goal of mine too. I spend so much time being bored of being bored sometimes... You know when you're so bored that the suggestion of absolutely anything is just a "no"? Lol
