Ring Pop proposal?

Would you take a ring pop?

  • I'd say yes in a heartbeat! *swoon*

  • Only if it's my favourite flavour. :P

  • A Ring Pop? Please...I want diamonds or other jewels!

She may have any flavor she likes, but this one will be mine.

One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them.

:ahah: That is awesome! I think it would be hilarious if the guy proposes and unbeknown to him, she pulls out that ring for him. Ha! That would be epic.

This silly thread has me looking at wedding rings now. :p
Yeah I knooooow this thread was supposed to convince me that a ring pop would be cool, and it is...

but so is this one :)

LOVE this, so you!

I'm all about this ring, I should just buy it for myself and wear it on my right hand ^_^

$57.95 is pretty darn reasonable as far as rings go.

Aww thank you! Yes, it's mine ladies... backer off :p

Kidding! :D

And seriously Amber, just do it!! I had this epiphany last week. What if I never get married? Then I don't get a cute ring either? I thinks not.
I may be forever-single, but I will look good :p

:D :D :D

And I love that you don't need real diamonds. I 'm the same way! My mom thinks I'm crazy. But I'm too accident prone, and lose way too many things. I'm just as happy if you can find a cute fake. I asked for diamond earrings for Christmas last year. Totally freaked out my parents. apparently they were stressing over a $800 pair. FACE PALM. I meant a pair of cubic zirconia one from Claires for $10 :D

Awww, your parents sound sweet! My parents would look at me like I was crazy and say "Find yourself a sugar daddy if you want those" :D

I lost too many rings over the years to ever consider real diamonds. Just the thought of $100's on my hand would send me into nervous spasms ^_^

Its a box with a ring pop in it and written on the inside is a note that says

"Now its my turn to pop the question...
Will you be my bridesmaid?"

Yeah, this is what my future sis-in-law did with me this past Christmas, only, it was large ring, not a ring pop. :)

Yes! It was the first song that popped into my crazy head, but only after looking for the video did I realize how... off, it was. Thank goodness for lyric videos?

And I love that your parents would have responded that way. Mine were trying to be polite, until they realized what I really wanted. Then the jokes flew. lol.

That's pretty!

:) Agreed. It's nice that it's not tooooo chunky lol

And how would that work?

Instead of some formal ceremony with one person monologuing, "Will you marry me?" it would be the two of them dialoguing and somebody saying, "Let's get married".

This happens more often than people probably think.

Unless they happen to say it at the same time ("jinks") or two families are arranging a marriage for their children, that would still be one person proposing marriage to the other. And unless your Ruth asking Boaz to fulfill his role as kinsman redeemer, a woman cannot ask a man to marry her. It offends a woman's sense of dignity. The guy has to be the one to do this. (Cue someone pointing out the very few examples of women who have successfully proposed to men.)

a real wedding ring is just whatever a culture says it is. we think a real wedding ring/engagement is diamonds because there is a monopoly on diamonds and the diamond owner has good marketing in very recent history. diamonds are not a rare stone. they are a monopolized stone. and the tradition is not old, it is a new invention.

pushing further for official wedding rings is just going along with culture--which is ok because that is part of understanding meaning and symbolic value. But I think the current culture of "wedding rings" takes advantage of the poor and makes them appear to be second class people when we do not admire their own creative expressions as equal with our expensive diamond engagement rings.

while a ringpop is fun and definitely for the right person, I suspect a better long term creative expression might be better. who says there have to be rings at all? Maybe we should consider the marriage quilt where each new engagement is added to the quilt. "Baby, I have bought you a strip of cloth tapestry to show my love."

Inspired by a chat with Squeakers, I pose the following query for the women of CF. If the love of your life,
that you were absolutely smitten with proposed to you, but offered a Ring Pop instead of a diamond engagement ring, would you still accept?

Lol that's cute!! Yes!!! I'd wear it too :D

*hopes I get the pink one*
