Has anyone heard the latest celebrity news about this actress from "One Day at a Time" sitcom from the 70s/80s?

Apparently she recently wrote an autobiography which reveals an incestuous relationship with her father, from the ages of 18 to 29. She said that her father initiated the affair forcefully against her wishes.

I have to admit, I am a huge fan of "Papa" John Phillips. He was amazing and influential songwriter in the 1960's. But he was also one of the most messed up drug users. The massive amounts of drugs he used was insane. I read his own "autobiography" a few years ago (after he died).

Mackenzie also heavily used drugs when she was younger. Something her father even helped her with by showing her things.

People talking about this seem to blame Mackenzie as much as her father. I don't know what to think about all of it. It's certainly a testimony to the dangers of substances.

That's a cop out. Getting high doesn't make one suddenly have sexual desire for their own children. Who knows if it's even true, or just a way for her to sell more books. He obviously isn't around to give his side of the story. If she brought it up years ago while he was alive to dispute it it would be different.

It seems like the reason she didn't do that earlier is because she didn't want to hurt her father.

Denny Doherty's (Mamas and Papas lead singer) daughter also confirmed that it was true.

Her dad was a sick sick man. As a father this story disgusts me.

I don't really know much about either one of them. . .

But someone made a good point. I have a problem with assuming that her story is true, when her father isn't even around to defend himself.

Is it not possible she is defaming her father for attention and perhaps sympathy to some extent?

It just doesn't strike me as right. She has no evidence other then what she says happened.
