Matt Whitman: David and Goliath Press Conference

Positive Biblical Impact

This video challenges us to view the battle of David and Goliath in a new way: through the eyes of Goliath's armor maker, who is struggling to fend off questions from angry Philistine reporters looking for someone to blame.

At the end of the day, the armor maker credits the God of Israel for David's victory, stating that if there wasn't divine intervention involved, Goliath just would have dodged the rock David threw at him and been perfectly okay. The conclusion, and the fact that the video is fairly humorous, may encourage unbelievers to stay on Matt's YouTube channel and explore more Christian content to investigate the question of whether divine intervention was responsible for David's victory. This may lead them to more Christian information that could lead them to the Gospel.

Concerning Content

Why are we talking about anatomical structures? I know this is comedy and these people are supposed to be Philistine bad guys, but did we really have to include that?

Also, a press conference is kind of a modern anachronism that Matt, as a pastor, should be well aware of - there were no press conferences back in Bible times because there was no press until the printing press and Gutenberg in 1440. While this video is comedy and really shouldn't be overthought - the point of the anachronism is to make us all think about an old story in a new way for good fun, it might trick some impressionable children.

Conclusion

Matt Whitman is a pastor who is trying to reach people with the Gospel online. His video production is actually suitable for the medium of YouTube and his videos are engaging. His comedy skits, however, drive away from the informative and well-edited educational content with entertaining images to keep viewers attention, into pure entertainment. This entertainment may not be as fully "true to the Scripture" as Matt's other videos, and viewers should be aware of the difference.
