Four controversial ideas about the return of Jesus

Ever notice how a lot of Bible verses about the return of Jesus and end-time events are shrouded in mystery?

In order to cut through the fog of confusion, here are four controversial ideas about the return of Jesus:

1. There are no Christians waiting around for Jesus when he returns.
2. We will know about the return of Jesus well in advance.
3. Jesus wants to punish you, hence the mostly confusing language about his return.
4. All the verses in the Bible about the return of Jesus are now suspect.

Idea #1 - There are no Christians waiting around for Jesus when he returns.

No Christians are waiting for Jesus upon his return. The entire world is unhappy at the return of Jesus.

Revelation 1:7 “Look, he is coming with the clouds,”
and “every eye will see him,
even those who pierced him”;
and all peoples on earth “will mourn because of him.”
So shall it be! Amen.

Matthew 24:30 "Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory

In the Bible, "all" or "none" doesn't really mean all or none. There are always exceptions, but the exceptions would be very small. So there will be a tiny number of Christians (and others) hiding out in the wilderness waiting for the return of Jesus. Tiny does not mean a billion. It probably means something a lot closer to a million or less.

Matthew 25 gives us the big picture: the harvests (nuclear wars) decimate large portions of the planet and the fake Jesus (fake bridegroom, false prophet) fools a large portion, so they take the mark of the beast. All others are killed. Who is left after the mark of the beast when the real Jesus arrives? Well, certainly no Christians.

If no Christians are left at the return of Jesus, then what about all those Bible verses telling us to watch for the return of Jesus?

Idea #2 - We will know about the return of Jesus well in advance.

Matthew 24:42 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.
Matthew 24:44 So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.

The only problem with the above verses is that we will know about the return of Jesus well in advance. He comes 7 years after the Antichrist takes power. He comes 1,290 days after the daily sacrifice is abolished.

Daniel 12:11 “From the time that the daily sacrifice is abolished and the abomination that causes desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days.

We know that the mark of the beast must be imposed before the return of Jesus. And Jesus finally comes during the battle of Armageddon.

Revelation 19:19 Then I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies [200 million] gathered together to wage war against the rider on the horse and his army.

You don't gather 200 million troops in a day. Plus, that many troops would have to walk to the battle location. That would give you months of warning that the return of Jesus is imminent.

So what is all this talk about nobody knowing the day or the hour concerning the return of Jesus?

The return of Jesus almost always refers to events that shortly precede his actual return. It is these events that will catch you off-guard. They will come by surprise.

Idea #3 - Jesus wants to punish you, hence the mostly confusing language about his return.

Matthew 13:13 This is why I speak to them in parables:
“Though seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand.

You see and hear but you do not believe. You have fallen asleep, and you are now unable to respond to bad news.

Matthew 13:14 In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah:

“‘You will be ever hearing but never understanding;
you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.
Matthew 13:15 For this people’s heart has become calloused;
they hardly hear with their ears,
and they have closed their eyes.
Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
hear with their ears,
understand with their hearts
and turn, and I would heal them.

What is it that we need to see?

Shortly before the return of Jesus we will see the harvests (nuclear wars) and the fake Jesus (false prophet.) You need to avoid them or else.

We know that Christians are sleeping at the arrival of the fake bridegroom (false prophet) in the parable of the wise and foolish virgins. They are also sleeping at the arrival of the harvests. And it is the harvests that will take you out suddenly in the night.

Matthew 7:13-14 tell us about the wide gate and narrow gate. This appears to be a reference to entering the kingdom of heaven when Jesus arrives. Almost no one is getting into the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 19:23-24 tell us that the rich are definitely not getting in. But the language is all so vague that we can't respond to it.

Matthew 19:23 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “Assuredly, I say to you that it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 19:24 And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”

A rich man is not getting into the kingdom of heaven because the harvests will take him out. But the harvests are not at the individual level. They are at the country level. That means a rich man is anybody who resides in a rich land. So the rich lands (the West) will surely be taken out before the arrival of Jesus.

Isn't the West under threat right now?

Idea #4 - All the verses in the Bible about the return of Jesus are now suspect.

The return of Jesus is not about the day he returns. It's about all the events that will shortly precede his actual return. We watch for the return of Jesus, so we can be ready for those events.

2 Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed.

2 Peter 3:10 is really talking about a harvest (nuclear attack). A harvest will come suddenly and wipe out everything in a nation. Christians will be wiped out along with everybody else.

We can see this in the parable of the talents in Matthew 25. Here, the hapless 1-talent servant gets tossed into hell for being lazy. He was too lazy to avoid the harvests. Note that hell has the same symptoms as a fatal dose of radiation: extreme pain inducing the gnashing of the teeth and weeping.

A harvest (nuclear attack) comes and gives most Christians a fatal dose of radiation. This is equivalent to being tossed into hell. Within days or a couple weeks, radiation sickness will set in. The pain will be intense. Nobody will care for you because they're dying too. At some point you will be screaming in pain which could last for days before death finally comes.

Luke 21:34-36 “But watch yourselves lest your hearts be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and cares of this life, and that day come upon you suddenly like a trap. For it will come upon all who dwell on the face of the whole earth. But stay awake at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.”

You have to pay attention or a harvest will suddenly take you out.

You also have to be ready for the fake Jesus (false prophet.) In the parable of the wise and foolish virgins, the fake bridegroom (false prophet) comes and catches the virgins (Christians) sleeping. Half get fooled and end up taking the mark of the beast. The other half get killed for refusing the mark.

It doesn't say fake bridegroom. It says bridegroom. But a bridegroom can be literally anyone. The confusion is on purpose. We are initially introduced to the idea of bridegroom in verses 1 to 5. Then there are two bridegrooms: the initial bridegroom (the fake one, false prophet) in verse 6, and then later when the bridegroom arrives (the real one) in verse 10. Both of them are called Jesus.

Conclusion

There is a lot of confusion surrounding the arrival of Jesus. Since you won't respond even if you know the truth, the Bible purposely confuses. Regardless, a lot of Christians are going to suffer shortly before Jesus returns.
