Dispensation of Law vs dispensation of Grace.

Two different covenants, the dividing line is Jesus death & resurrection.

Matt 15:24 24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
(PARSING: Jesus Himself say's: He was sent (ONLY) to the lost sheep of the house of Israel)

Rom 15:8 Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers:
(PARSING: Here (again) scripture proclaims; Jesus (while alive) was a minister of the circumcision/JEWS)

Gal 4:4
4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
(PARSING: God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, MADE UNDER the LAW!)

5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
(PARSING: To REDEEM Who? Those UNDER the LAW > Israel/Jews.)

Jesus in the flesh (made of a woman/under the law) mission is to ISRAEL ONLY! Reread Matt 15:8 & Rom 15:8 above.

Rom 15:4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
(PARSING: ALL scripture is written for our learning. However, ALL scripture ISN'T written for our DOCTRINE. Example: Are NT believers required to get circumcised or bring an animal sacrifice to the Temple?)

We can glean truths in all scripture. Yet, ALL scripture isn't applicable the NT believer.

The law was given (to Israel) by Moses (Jn 1:17, Num 9:23, Deut 4:44)

The old (physical/temporal Mosaic law/Israel only) covenant is retired here:

Matt 27:

50 Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.

51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;
(PARSING: Jesus dies & the O/C temple veil (that separated sinful man from God) is torn in 1/2. And now thru FAITH in His broken body/sin atoning death. The N/C believer is set apart for a particular purpose (Heb 10:20)

Its here the new covenant (Acts 20:24) begins at Jesus death:

Heb 9:
15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

16 For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.

17 For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.
(PARSING: Jesus via His death & resurrection becomes the mediator of the new testament/covenant)

The new (spiritual/eternal gospel of the grace of God Acts 20:24) covenant begins here:

Acts 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
(PARSING: Believers are filled/baptized/sealed (2 Cor 1:22, Eph 1:13) Forever (Jn 14:16) with God's Holy Spirit)

Help on how to rightly study/divide the covenants

Myles Coverdale; a Bible theologian/translator from the 1500’s. He wrote the Coverdale Bible. Say's don't judge Scripture by what is spoken, or written only.

When dissecting any verse of scripture. Ask yourself, of whom, to whom, with what words, what time, where, to what intent, with what circumstances, considering what is written before and what follows any single verse context.
