Anyone like trumpet music? Rafael Mendez was born in Mexico, and lived from 1906 to 1981. The music he could get from a trumpet is extraordinary. A few examples:
The Virgin of Macarena is a centuries old wooden image of Mary in the Basilica of Macarena in Seville, Spain. She's considered to be the patron saint of bullfighters. A well known piece of music to honor her is traditionally played as the matador enters the bullring. Mendez's solo trumpet (with orchestral backup) is incredible:
Moto Perpetuo (Perpetual Motion) is a short violin piece written by Paganini to show off his fiddle playing. Mendez does an amazing rapid-fire trumpet version. It sounds like he never takes a breath for over 4 minutes. It's unbelievable:
Brahms' familiar Hungarian Dance #5 was originally written for piano. Mendez's trumpet version is outstanding:
