Anyone notice that many people are scientifically illiterate

I just came across a two year old video that shows how people can be illiterate on all sorts of issues, yet think they know. It's brilliant, actually. The presenter seems to analyze new news the same way I do, for the most part.

How could Adam write what took place before he was created?

Adam lived for 930 years.

At anytime he could have written Genesis 1 & 2.

The first 5 books of the Hebrew Bible are accredited to Moses.

Correct.

But Moses didn't write Genesis.

He compiled it and made some redactions.

In Genesis 14:14 the narrator reports that Abram chased the four ancient Near Eastern kings who kidnapped Lot “as far as Dan.” This reference to the city of Dan is a postmosaica because this city, earlier called Laish, was not named Dan until the time of the Judges (see Judges 18), and of course the name derived from the tribe of Dan, named after Jacob’s son Dan, Abraham’s great grandson.

From Matthew Poole's Commentary:

Dan is commonly thought to be a town then called Leshem, Jos 19:47, or Laish, Jg 18:7, and afterwards Dan; see Jg 18:7,29; so it is an anticipation. But it may be doubted whether this was a city; or if it were, whether it were not another town called by the same name, which was frequent in those parts. And some think this is not a town, but the very fountain of Dan, whence Jordan had its name.

I don’t see any evidence of this in Jewish tradition. So I’m assuming your position is that God told Adam about the creation process and then this was handed down over the next 2500 years. Why do you think this instead of God telling Moses since that’s what Jewish tradition says?

What does that have to do with scientific illiteracy?

By today's standards, they were just as scientifically illiterate as we are today, by tomorrow's standards.

In other words, if they were scientifically illiterate, so are we.

If anything though, I believe they were more advanced scientifically for their time, than we are today.

And in fact, some believe God confounded their language at the tower of Babel to stunt the growth of science since technology was advancing too fast.

I believe God created the heavens and the earth with everything on the earth and the process I won't try to guess.

Those processes were called creatio ex nihilo and creatio ex materia.

They weren't scientific or natural processes either.

They were miracles.

Outside of the detection of science, and evidence free.

Yes the ones who are chosen to deliver a specific message never make mistakes, I made that clear when I said that God never chooses someone to deliver a message who will not deliver the message exactly the way He intended it.

It baffles me why some people would even dare to think God just stood by and allowed His word -- (which He magnified even above His own name) -- to be Arab-phoned beyond comprehension.

Psalm 138:2 I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

The aboriginals had enough knowledge of aerodynamics to make boomerangs.

Science can eat its heart out.

I don’t see any evidence of this in Jewish tradition.

Well first of all, the Jews didn't exist yet.

Second of all, colophons and toledoths are used as [non-Jewish] evidence.

So I’m assuming your position is that God told Adam about the creation process and then this was handed down over the next 2500 years.

Correct.

And by extension, it's been handed down to us since it was first written.

Why do you think this instead of God telling Moses since that’s what Jewish tradition says?

For a couple of reasons:
  1. It pwns the idea that academia has that no one back then could read or write.
  2. It effectively puts a stop to academia's bologna about sky-domes, and Babylonian cosmology, and other garbage about stars fixed in the sky and so on and so forth. Academia caters to Babylon ... and guess who else does as well?

Science can eat its heart out.
And they probably used science to do it. After all, science is really nothing more than experimentation followed by examining results. They just had to do it the hard way because they didn't have wind tunnels. Come to think of it, airplanes used to be designed using wind tunnels because they didn't have computer models. ;)

Real science, yes.

(Unless, of course, a boomerang came back and clobbered someone, resulting in his death; then they'll say it was the fault of engineering, not science.)

how? There's no evidence he knew how to write. Also, since written language is a relatively new creation that came about due to the social needs, I'm unsure why you'd think Adam wrote that

How do YOU write?

There's no evidence he knew how to write.

Yet he was given a job, a wife, and told to have children.

In addition, he named the animals.

I find it very hard to believe he couldn't read or write.

And for the record, what's this?

Genesis 5:1a This is the book of the generations of Adam.

And six generations later ...

Genesis 4:22a And Zillah, she also bare Tubalcain, an instructer of every artificer in brass and iron:

Also, since written language is a relatively new creation that came about due to the social needs, I'm unsure why you'd think Adam wrote that.

Said of God's amanuenses:

2 Peter 1:21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

I write the English language alphabet that was handed down to me from ancestors.
So again,
How did Adam write?

Yet he was given a job, a wife, and told to have children.

Sure. Did he have to write the name down anywhere?

I find it very hard to believe he couldn't read or write.
Who would have taught him?

Yes. The prophesy of Jesus was shared many times by holy men and priests through Israel's history.

So do I.

So again, How did Adam write?

He was obviously created with the ability to do so.

Just like he was created with the ability to walk and talk.

Remember this passage?

Exodus 36:1 Then wrought Bezaleel and Aholiab, and every wise hearted man, in whom the LORD put wisdom and understanding to know how to work all manner of work for the service of the sanctuary, according to all that the LORD had commanded.

Sure. Did he have to write the name down anywhere?

Yes.

Who would have taught him?

No one.

It came with the territory.
