Which is unfortunate. That needs to change.
It has changed - for the worse, for some reason.

Maternal mortality rates, which are the number of maternal deaths per 100,000 live births, are shown in this report by age group and race and Hispanic origin....The maternal mortality rate for 2021 was 32.9 deaths per 100,000 live births, compared with a rate of 23.8 in 2020 and 20.1 in 2019. In 2021, 1,205 women died of maternal causes in the United States compared with 861 in 2020 and 754 in 2019.
...In 2021, the maternal mortality rate for [Black] women was 69.9 deaths per 100,000 live births, 2.6 times the rate for [White ] women ...Rates for Black women were significantly higher than rates for White and Hispanic women. The increases from 2020 to 2021 for all race and Hispanic-origin groups were significant.

Again, up to the doctors, not me.
Perhaps it should be up to the person whose life and limbs (so to speak) are at risk if they want to accept the risk.

They accepted that risk when they chose to have unprotected sex.

Or is it a case of others wanting to force external consequences on women who have sex those others disprove of.
external consequences? Fact is unprotected sex can lead to pregnancy. That is not a punishment or disease. That's reality.

I guess if there were no actual rebuttals to the actual experience of actual women, pretending everyone who disagrees is lying would help quiet the cognitive dissonance for a bit.
Sociopaths do plenty of things that are harmful to people and feel no guilt, doesn't mean it's good for them.

So can protected sex. So can unwanted sex. And even welcomed pregnancies can turn dangerous.

Driving a car can lead to a car wreck. Deliberately getting pregnant can lead to uncontrolled bleeding during childbirth.

By your logic, they should be denied medical treatment because they accepted the risks.

No. From my perspective abortion is not medical treatment.

Kinda strange how hard it is to get a straight answer. I'm not sure why, but it definitely points to an opinion which shouldn't be driving health policy decisions.

Nope. I want it so rare it’s only used to preserve the life of a mother and nothing more. Period.

Lots of excuses for men in the OP trying to convince women that they know better than the women themselves.
No excuses, just the truth. Feeling no empathy for harming others is abnormal.
