Social Justice Ministries Forum Statement of Purpose

The Social Justice Ministries forum is for members who are involved in ministries which focus on serving the Kingdom of God in practical ways. Whether the ministry is responding to human needs with loving service, challenging violence and pursuing peace, seeking reconciliation, seeking to transform unjust structures in society, advocating for the powerless, or striving to sustain and renew the life of the earth (safeguarding the integrity of creation), all of these have their place under the umbrella of "Social Justice Ministries." Whether you work with a church, an agency, or any other organization; whether you work with others or on your own; this is the place to share ideas and resources, and to encourage and inspire one another.

This forum is not the place to challenge or debate the validity of efforts at welfare or philanthropy, social justice as an aspiration, or the desire for change in society. If you wish to debate these types topics, please start a thread in Christian Philosophy & Ethics forum.

Handling Disagreements

Members who participate in the Social Justice Ministries forum are expected to treat one another with courtesy and respect at all times, ESPECIALLY when you disagree with each other. It is not a flame for a member to disagree with another member's argument or opinion on a specific topic.
  • When you disagree, address the content of the post and not the poster.
  • When you disagree with someone's position, you should post evidence and supporting statements for your position. This policy, sometimes referred to as "X means Y because of Z", must be followed especially when posting claims that are widely considered to be controversial.
  • When you disagree and you find yourself becoming frustrated and angry, step away from the computer and give yourself time to cool down.
  • Always proofread your post before hitting the "Reply" button to make sure you have responded with courtesy and respect.
If you feel that a post may violate the rules of this SoP, or the sitewide rules, please report the post instead of responding to it. If you have issues with another member and can't work it out, or are disgruntled about a staff decision, please click on the "Support" tab in the header navigation bar, or "Contact Us" at the bottom of the page, and open a new support ticket to discuss the situation with a CF Administrator. Discussion of members or staff actions in the forums is considered disruptive and can result in additional staff actions.
