My personal thought when I read the article was this is so small. It could be anything. The only way to see the time frame is to do that test on it to see how old it is. I looked at the parchment, I personally couldnt make out anything. Just a few letters. And I am no expert, I have no clue what language they are in. Does anyone else.
How exactly are they getting that this is from the gospel?

I would have liked to have seen something like this analysis for the famous John fragment.
It is small, isn't it? I don't think any identification with Mark can be made on the basis of those few letters -- the URL in the original post points out several other extant texts that it might come from.
