Tell that to the folks who believe that everything has to be in the Bible.Honestly, for that matter, the gospels themselves are tradition. It is only through tradition that the gospels were preserved. Without tradition we would not have them at all.
You mean like oral tradition?If we are honest with ourselves the gospels were written by second or third generation Christians, not eye witnesses. The names assigned to these gospels came a century after the fact based on legend.
